Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

Again, I'll wait for Chromyellow to ask you to provide evidence of such claims.
Having worked in and around a few clubs over the last 6 years and met and spoken to a wide range of people within the game then I’m pretty confident of my statement.

I'm not doubting you, I'm sure Joey is confident of his statement too.

Interesting insight, from which everyone can make a decision whether to believe it or not.

But Chromeyellow won't ask you for proof of those equally unfounded claims. I wonder why?

That's for them to reply to. However, there are some who post comments that are inflammatory but without anything to support it (contextually rather than evidentially), and I think it's reasonable to call these comments out.

The example being the comments about Buckingham losing the dressing room. I wouldn't expect someone to screenshot a players WhatsApp group or name individuals, but I don't think it's unreasonable for these comments to provide something to legitimise them.

Of course, you're right, people can make up their own minds on what they read, and who they read it from. I don't expect anyone to believe me over anyone else, but in this instance, what I've heard seems more plausible than us spending a huge amount to get Des in but then look to get an assistant on the cheap.

But loads of people have heard this. I've heard this (although I hadn't mentioned it until now). Do you think anyone who hears stuff that is negative about the club should bite their tongue if they can't legitimise it beyond being told by someone they have reason to trust? This isn't a propaganda vehicle, it's a fans forum. It's dangerous game trying silence dissenting voices for the sole reason of them not fitting a certain agenda.

I'm not suggesting that anyone should silence anything. But it is equally dangerous to share things without any scrutiny whatsoever.

If we're talking about losing the dressing room, as an example, then someone could give examples of what that looks like without sharing private conversations. For example, "senior players are fed up with how they're being asked to play, look at the body language of x and y". Because at the moment, most people would look at recent performances, even where we've lost, and still see that players appear to be giving 100%.

So if there is something very wrong, and potentially impacting our results, then back that with more than a headline.

I don't think 100% effort on the pitch serves as evidence that the players are happy. Anyone who watched us at the end of KR's reign should know that. The players gave everything against Bristol Rovers, then minutes later Robinson's right-hand man went on local radio and distanced himself and the squad from him.

I don't really want to talk about this as it's unfair on Des, which is why I hadn't said anything before, but I'm very surprised that you haven't heard about some issues if you're as close to the club as you'd have some believe.

Scrutiny is healthy, I agree, but the nature of football rumours is that they are pretty much impossible to prove so demanding evidence only when a dissenting view is presented isn't.

I agree that professional players will often still give everything on the pitch, which is why it is helpful if there are wider concerns that people share some of the context of how this is rather than simply saying that there is a problem. That way, others who haven't heard things first hand can be aware of issues too. I'm not saying that there needs 'evidence' and would not expect anyone to breach confidences.

As for hearing things about Des, I've heard that he's less hands on with training and a quieter manager than Manning. There are maybe suggestions that he has less presence, and does more one-to-one coaching conversations with players rather than big PowerPoint things that Manning did. He certainly has a different style, and some will prefer this and some won't. I believe that Harris is one of those that has benefitted from more individual work and building his confidence. Others may feel more left out I guess.

However, that is the sort of thing that you get in all football clubs and most workplaces. There are different personalities and people respond differently to them. It's not anything that suggests a wider concern, and something that would probably be improved with an actual assistant rather than another coach, but that takes us full circle.

Of course, you and others may have heard things differently or may come to a different conclusion from hearing similar to me.

I think we are all pretty concerned about the performances at the moment aren't we? Isn't that the context of how issues might be affecting things? I agree that in that it would be weird if people were mentioning this stuff if we had maintained the levels and results as under Manning, but we haven't.

Any chance we can close this thread now, which has become increasingly strange. For those that can't let it go, here are a few phrases for you to use... clueless... hopeless...rabbit in headlights...out of his depth...PE teacher...tired...no contacts...Mickey Mouse League. And so on.

He's shown he isn't out of his depth now as he got booked last night so we can scratch that off the list.

Did the players give everything in that 3-0 defeat to at home to Bristol Rovers last season? We were a shambles before it but that game had the look of players who had given up.

That one candidate approached didn’t want to to relocate because of a young family has been mentioned by several people and seems a completely normal reason for a someone to turn a job down.

I think that Spreading gossip without evidence of complete incompetence by the club is a rather different matter.

It seems @tatabanya may not understand the difference.

Why is offering people a pay-cut “complete incompetence”?

Also why don’t you want evidence of the candidate not wanting to relocate?

Why is Tatabanya behaving like a 4 year old?

Don't you have anything better to do? I'm afraid i do...Have a nice day.

After enduring that, its is now confirmed Des hasn't a clue, slow, and negative football, uninspiring followed by ridiculous substitutions. possibly 2 points out of 15 after next week.
I will be at Blackpool but Im enjoying it less by the game.
