Great quote I came across recently... "An optimist sometimes looks foolish - a cynic always looks cynical."

I guessed it must have been. And yes POMO!

Away Match Build Up 06/04/2024: L1 Burton Albion v OUFC

I agree. KR played 4141 often and many times it worked. BUT big but, that 1 was Gorrin and Cam was one of the 2 in central midfield.

General Modern Football: Is It Just Boring?

To counter my own view above, I think modern coaches are thinking more about limiting the opposition's opportunity for scoring. So if they only have possession for 30% of the time then there is less likelihood of them scoring.

I agree. I don't disagree that the standard is higher, in that an average Premier league or League 1 team now would beat a Division 1 or Division 3 team from years back. But what happened to the old PMO (Position of Maximum Opportunity) idea? I.e. What positions do you need to get into...

    Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

Great analysis- thank you. Completely agree with Cam as CDM having to be more disciplined and not trying to be everywhere at once and constant worldy passes. If you play him further forward (especially as a No. 10) he gets less of the ball and less influence. Agree re RR - he needs to play...

2 out 13 successful crosses. Mix of not the best of crosses and also forwards not getting into the right place - even though there were enough getting into the box.

It can work as 4141. Then, strangely it is round pegs round holes.

Thank goodness putting Brannagan back and McGuane further forward where his mistakes are less important

Would prefer to Brannagan further back where he gets more of the ball and can influence more.
