So, if Goodrham and Mills are out now, we really are down to bare bones. We might have to play 5-3-2 - Thorniley fills me with dread, but not sure there is much alternative.

Beadle
Stevens Moore Thorniley Brown Bennett
McGuane Brannagan McEachran
RR Harris

Alternatively we could give Smyth a run out, and give McGuane a bit of a rest - looks like he needs it, and would be a useful option to have to bring on with 30 mins to help retain possession if we somehow had something to hang onto at that stage.

If Bodin is back, we play as a 10 behind the front two, and bench one of the 3 mids (not CB obvs, probably McGuane for reasons given above).

Thoughts?

Could we put Stevens wide right with Smyth at RB?

Are Golding and/or Johnson in the house and fit to bolster things?

And if all else fails, thornily in at CB, Harris out wide, Ciaran brown up top 😁

Let's change things around, try something new. We can only lose again! Know it's not probably a good idea to switch to a three at the back when DB has been rigid on the four but who knows.....might confuse Charlton!🤣

Bennett and Stevens seem fit (ish!) and willing so let them get up and down the flanks, Cam and RR to create and support Harris and both can arrive in the box late. Smyth and Josh patrolling and probing in the middle, and we have to trust Thorniley to just defend and don't do anything silly, just get the bloody ball away! Moore can bring it out from the back and Brown can shift across if needed. Again we have not much to bring on from the bench but we need to get through this game! Mills, Tyler (if fit) Henry, Gats and Bodin if fit really need to step up if called upon.

Cup game we can forget about, and then hope we have at least a few returning or new faces vs Carlisle (have to play the kids vs The Wombles!)

Thornley on the right of a three scares the hell out of me!

Heard we're going to be conscripting youth team players for this one

We may have to play 3/5 at the back, with Stevens and Bennett adding the width.
McEachran will presumably start.
Like a couple have suggested, I would play Cam further forward.
There will have to be youth team players on the bench

I’m hoping for a win but would take a point considering we are literally down to the bare bones.

I’d go 352 with the following:

Beadle
Moore Thorniley Brown
Stevens McGuane Brannagan Bennett
Rodders
GOD Harris

Subs: Eastwood, Smyth, Gorrin, McEachran, Henry, Johnson, Perkins

Before people jump on the GOD selection of tell him to stay between the width of the 18 yard box, hold it up, win the flick one and have Harris running off him.

If anybody is genuinely suggesting Eastwood should play ahead of Beadle then I can only suggest immediate medical help. Nobody is saying Beadle had a good game last night but to suggest Eastwood should play ahead of his is frightening.
Beadle has been sub-standard for a few games now. Experienced and competent keeper on the bench who knows the opposition manager inside out.
Easy decision for me if I was Des - claim Beadle has a ‘slight tweak’ and drop him.

Also the opposition manager who knows every one of Eastwood’s weaknesses and will exploit them.

To drop Beadle is a ridiculous thing to suggest, even by YF standards.

Would rather play Golding or Smyth at rch of a 3 than put Thorniley in there at the moment

I’d put Smyth centre of a back 3 if we were at home but away from home then I think we need experience and I think Thorniley himself knows he needs to step it up. He played in a back 3 for Blackpool in the championship last season and did well.

Yea as good as this place is you do get some special people on here ...... Drop Beadle for Eastwood 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what a wolly

My team would be
Beadle
Stevens Moore brown Bennett
Maguane branagan
Harris Ruben Bodin
Henry ( Henry is probably the most natural finisher we currently have on his day and plus his legs have gone so just stick him up top )

Get some kids in, nothing to lose.

Had some cracking games at The Valley.

Head hopes for a draw, heart hopes for an end to end 5-4 win........... we`ll lose 1-0.
