as someone in the know are there other decent players we have been looking at for ages close?

Promising signing. Should also help our chances of signing other decent players with this one nice and early.

On that note - please please please let that be the signing that once and for all puts to bed the myth (indulged and amplified by many of our own fans - it's true) that OUFC are simply here to make up the numbers and can only dream of competing with the likes of Barnsley, Bolton et al.

Yes, some of your fans are getting a bit ahead of themselves. He’s going to be playing League One football, which is markedly superior to League Two. Look at the 3 that went up this season Plymouth, Ipswich and Wednesday, all are large clubs and have massive support. Yes we finished just above the relegation spots, but this was down entirely to Karl Robinson. A pitiful excuse for a manager. He was carrying on with one of the ladies team and his brain cells were supplied from his ball sack, he’s a bit thick, so there weren’t too many! His job was an after thought, consequently we ended up signing players who we knew were crocked, didn’t fill the squad, brought players in who were not good enough. KR got us to a playoff final, we lost, a semifinaL, we were tonked, then 8th. It was all downhill. We eventually got rid of him after picking up 1 point in 27. He was not liked by the majority and listening to his post match interviews made you think you’d attended a different match. Deluded, deranged and crazy.
Liam Manning has come in and steadied the ship, avoided relegation and has now picked up Ruben. We were apparently looking at him for some time. I think Ruben will flourish here, regular first team football, excellent training facilities and a beautiful area.
good luck in League 2, do us a favour and destroy Swindon, a shithole of a town and beat Wrexham twice.

I think this one was more or less agreed with the player a while back as he was out of contract
It just couldn't be announced yet
A couple of other decent Notts players are yet to agree to new offers including Nemane who is a class act too
Players still in contract elsewhere will be more difficult for obvious reasons

Seems like a real capture and a good statement of intent.

The club lost the benefit of the doubt last season, but this is a proper sign of actually improving on what went wrong instead of just talking about how we need to do it.

As others have intimated, isn't it refreshing to get a signing announced early with no waffle from the Manager about how many top players he's speaking to, only to be disappointed. I really hope LM goes about his business as quietly and confidently as he has done so far. Great work OUFC! Just the sort of signing we and others in LG1 are crying out for.
