Current Player #20 Rúben Rodrigues

Just what I was about to say, good range of finishes, headers, free-kicks, pens, long shots, in the box, and more.
Very composed in front of goal too.
Great signing.
Yeah, yeah but you've got to watch these fancy dan foreign signings - will he be able to do it on a wet January night in Fleetwood?

We'd been looking at him for ages apparently
Notts will be really disappointed that he's decided not to take up their offer of a new contract
We are actually an attractive proposition now and our current players are telling their mates in the game of the positive changes in environment
There's zero chance he'd have come here under the previous regime when he had a number of alternative offers

Notts fan here. First of all apologies for the way some of our fans are acting on social media, we don't know a lot about you guys and what we do know is from Jodi which was obviously under your previous manager. Looking into your current set up it makes perfect sense.

Right what do you want to know?

Ruben is an excellent pkayer, sitting behind the striker more as an attacking midfielder. He took a while to settle at Notts as he had to get up to speed with the game but now he's very very hard working and will run work very hard for you.

He's a bit cheeky, he does complain a bit to the refs and he's the sort of player opposition fans hate but his own fans love

How true. A real statement of intent and a reassurance that things are getting back on an even keel.

Interested to see where LM plays him. He said he feels most comfortable being an attacking midfielder, but can play as a 9.

I can’t see LM playing 2 up front as he will want to have a control of midfield, so depends on the system. Maybe as a 10 in a 4-2-3-1 or one of the 3 forwards in a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3.

What's his favourite chocolate bar?

A few of us were pleased to see Jodi get a smile back on his face. The crap that was handed out to some players under, as you put it so delicately, "previous manager" was outrageous.
Let's hope we both have a good season ahead and can put smiles on everyone's face!

It's funny how delusional some football fans can be - took a quick look at the Notts County forum and most of the posters can't understand why he has moved to Oxford. However, my favourite posters seem to think they will be passing us when they go up and we go down and that League 1 is their natural' level.

Where you are at is where you deserve to be, for whatever reasons and they have spent the last 8 years in League 2 and the Conference.

For balance, they are not all negative and someone makes the comment that Manning will look to play him in the same position Williams did (and as Twine was used) - not by using him as a winger or defensive midfielder in best Robinson style.

No offence to the notts county fan on here but I have always thought it’s going to very hard for Notts County to ever do much, they are the second club in Nottingham, it’s not going to support to successful clubs. Whereas we have an entire (wealthy) county to ourselves, the potential here is bigger.

Add in we have rich owners, are an established league one club and have a recent host of developing players that go onto the championship, it’s into double figures recently whereas who has made that jump from Notts County.

No brainer at 26 not to stay with them and get a big pay rise to come to us.

Liam Manning is a lot like Luke Williams, modest, hard working and professional
The manager we had here before was the polar opposite
And a nasty piece of work to boot
I suspect that RR will feel at home here as he did at Notts
Plus he'll likely enjoy a decent signing on fee and contract

Wow. I must admit I thought he’d go to Derby as it’s close to Notts.
fantastic signing…. A forward, oh my Days.

I wonder if Jodi Jones said, a great club and the previous t**t manager has been kicked out
We're closer to Portugal! Notwithstanding, have you ever been to Derby.......... ;)

To be fair, I remember Notts County in the top flight, it was more recently than we were there. Always seem to give us a really tough game as well. Decent stadium, and a fantastic history. Get it right there and I could see them in the Championship again without doubt.

As for RR, really happy with this signing, and still picking myself up off the floor that we've signed someone before the end of the cricket season...

Been a long time since either of us were in the top flight, they will always suffer from being the second side in a medium size city, like Bristol it’s the sort of place that only needs one team.
