Some pretty bullish comments from KR on Clare (28.44 onwards). His tone was one of ‘the player has to show that he wants to be here and is capable of dealing with the pressure of a top six side’.

Not the end of Sean Clare by the sounds but hardly a ringing endorsement that he’s priority.
 
Wonder whether Burton has spoken to us about a permenant move. Guess we'd want some money to compensate us for what we paid to Hearts.

Get the excuses ready before anything happens? And, who could blame Clare if he decided he didn't want to play for a man who first played him out of position and then, having shown that he did have some talent, shipped him off out on loan?

Clare clearly joined as a right back (in the Cadden mould)
Clare would clearly have known that and presumably agreed to it
Who knows what went on behind the scenes but is it possible that Clare didn't show terrific attitude?
If he wants out I would assume that he will get his wish. If he wants to stay he will have to prove himself. Hardly outrageous?

It doesn't matter now what, if anything, went on behind the scenes. He was signed with a view to playing right back although clearly he was a midfielder. When he went to Burton on loan he was played as a midfielder, prior to leaving he had a spell as a midfielder and, some success. (combining with Sam Long with a resultant goal for Long)
He stated from the outset that he wanted to play for Oxford, let's give him the benefit of doubt and hear from him what he sees for his future.

Listened to as much as I could bear yesterday. I may even try again but, it doesn't give any coherent answers to what is going on. Are we going to sign defenders, are they going to be young, old, inbetween - I couldn't figure it out. Apparently Clare will only be back if he wants to play for OUFC, I thought he had stated that on arriving at the club last season. KR thought he was a big talent waiting to happen in October following four defeats. Will he be expected to renew his place as a defender or attacking midfielder? On arrival at Burton he saw himself as a box to box player, just coincidence that Hasselbank had the same vision?

Thought KR was pretty clear about our midfield options and it’s impact on recruitment. Clare coming back as an 8 if he wishes to. If not, we’ll sell him.

Robinson said that Clare would be expected to come back and compete for the no.8 role, but he'd have to fight for his space and if he didn't want to do that he could move on.

Really not sure what else anyone would expect?

Much depends whether your Default is a dislike of the Manager or any given player i guess

He did OK at best when playing wide right to me. Yes he helped Long score and was a little better but from a low base.
By all means let's give him the benefit of the doubt and hope that he goes all out to prove everybody wrong and is determined to get into the first team.

He was better than Henry has been at wide right this season and as good or better than the majority of games Lee played (but not all)

He also didn’t really have a long run in that position. He clearly has the qualities to play attacking wide right, or box to box CM. He just doesn’t have much positional sense defensively

The Number 8 role??? What the hell is that? This is what I expect an Oxford Number 8 to look like, and no disrespect to Clare, it's not him ...

Yes no idea what a number 8 is. Is it Cameron Branagan?

Anyway I hope he comes back so we can have a look at him at least. Quite a big step up from Burton but his good form may be transferrable

I don't think he did enough to suggest that.
He played what a couple of games wide right? I reckon he was average- showed some glimpses but didn't do enough to show how good or not he is.
All of the games at Burton were in CM so he has to compete with Gorrin, Brannagan and McGuane I guess.
