International News Black Lives Matter

It seems that whilst many on here got angry about people going to the beach, even more about the BLM demos last weekend, and 99% about trips to Durham landmarks, fewer seem to be calling out the Stone Island crew from today for abandoning social distancing?

I hope that's due to the saturation of condemning the same point, rather than some kind of acceptance for these cockwaffles?

They are fuckwits of the highest order without doubt.

At least somebody can still tweet from Boris Johnson’s account, to tell us all how terrible it is that the country is at each other’s throats in the middle of the worst pandemic in over a century.

It’s good to know that as the s**t continues to hit the fan the person in charge of it all isn’t still insisting on having lovely long weekends in the countryside, and generally avoiding speaking personally and publicly at absolutely any cost, regardless of how catastrophic anything and everything going on is.

Phew.

I suspect that's more because the thought that they might be bright enough, caring enough or sensible enough to socially distance never crossed anybody's mind!

That's not true. He DOES appear when there is some 'relaxation' of the lock down to announce in the vain (and I mean vain) attempt to be popular and he can practice his bad sub-Churchillian umms and errs, while not answering any questions that are asked.

True leadership.

A white "far right" protester is being carried to safety by a black "BLM" protester - apparently.
Why though? Too much Stella and he's being taken to somewhere for a lay down?

Whether it’s beachgoers, or protestors of what ever persuasion their deliberate lack of social distancing is incredibly selfish in my view. The elderly and vulnerable are still at risk.

Silence was telling from one or two when I was making the same point in a few posts previous.

The only thing more disgraceful that the behaviour of large chunks of society at present is that the very people who empowered much of the nation to flaunt the rules and do what they feel is acceptable, be it in the form of protesting or heading down to the beach, and who are also given immense privilege to serve and protect the nation, have fucked off and left us all to it. Again. Repeatedly. Constantly.

Between rioting and this pandemic we are in a national crisis. This is an emergency situation and has been for some time. It is getting worse. But heaven forbid we see or hear from those in power in a way that isn’t just a tweet from some lowly lackey. Especially on a weekend.

You learn the most about people, from your neighbours to those with their fingers on the big red button, in times like these.

I hope we are all looking and all remember when it matters. Because no matter your beliefs or opinions, this ain’t it.

All very predictable yesterday. The twats from the other side out on the town.

Reporting predictably inconsistent as well. A group of ‘white men’ causing trouble as per BBC reporting I notice. Imagine if they’d reported last week as ‘mainly BAME men’ causing trouble.

The biggest political liabilities out there at the moment are the Mayor of London and the Education Minister. Williamson should get his marching orders soon. Khan unfortunately won’t.

All he seems to care about is virtue signalling and taking the clipboard round on his statue truth and reconciliation commission.

He’s incompetent and he’s partial.. And plenty of Londoners are seeing through him now
