Mackie as much as I like him doesn’t score enough

Without Henry and Brannagn, we lack the cleverness and quick feet around the box to actually create clear chances, and without Taylor, the clever movement in the box to be available for them. With very little pace and quality on the wings, we have nothing that looks like it could open them up, and are resorting to pumping balls in and taking potshots from deep, which are more often than not blocked.

This is not the first game in the last little while we've looked really blunt up top, and it is a bit worrying.

My take so far, in no particular order...

After the first 15 minutes we have controlled things without really looking threatening.
Hall is having a good game.
Baptiste the only other one with drive and skill.
Sykes, Mackie and Fosu anonymous.
Gorrin needs to get forward more and keep it on the deck.
I like how Moore plays the game...good player!
Dickster being targeted and looks super wobbly.
Hartlepool investing huge energy, couple of them blowing by the end...keep the pressure on Kioso and Mafuta, they are walking yellow cards.

The gulf in quality and potency between our left flank - Baptiste, Fosu and Ruffels - versus the right side of Sykes, Hall and Long is stark. They can load up on Shandon and Tarique because Sykes and Hall are so anonymous (albeit Hall has improved as the half went on)

Dickie and Moore look dire today. They’ve been given some hospital balls at times, but wow. They are so flaky we are simultaneously controlling the game but also looking like we are going to concede every time they attack.

Their fans are decent. And to end on a positive, I thought Baptiste, once again, is absolutely superb. If he can add a little composure to his game in and around the penalty area he really will have premiership potential...
