Stewart Donald anyone.....

  • Sunderland in "a cracking position" financially: debt free and almost at break-even point with commercial income
  • Parachute payments used to pay off old debts as intended
  • Queue of investors interested in putting money to the club
  • Daily Mail being sued for misleading article
  • Lyle Taylor comments nonsensical as offered a better deal financially compared to Charlton
  • SD frustrated with internet trolls peddling rubbish as truth...!

When it comes to internet trolls peddling rubbish as the truth, SD only needs to look across the boardroom table.

Sunderland are still in a mess, both financially and in football terms. They have players on massive contracts, transfer fees still owed, a team with no pace, no enough goals since January and a losing mentality. Lyle Taylor admitted that he took less money to go elsewhere because of the naivety at boardroom level.

As for future investors, you can get queues at a car boot sale, but they only stay if they are getting a bargain. Satori got 10% for £2m. Expect other deals to be of a similar nature despite their "cracking position".

As for suing the Daily Mail, I'll give them as much chance as when they said that they wouldn't involve agents in player deals. Slim, and no f'ing chance!!

Except that, according to SD, they are not a mess financially. In fact, he goes into great detail about it (probably too much in fact). But hey, easier to troll I guess...

On the pitch, work still to be done. No denying that (and SD doesn't).

Frankly, I feel CM DOES know more about the business of football than the average football fan. As fans we are frankly clueless.

Hi charles or mark [emoji1309][emoji1309][emoji6]

If players really cared about the level of professionalism of the board, how are we attracting any players?! Taylor wanted to stay in London (nothing wrong with that).
Nothing wrong with that at all.
Except that is totally different from what he is quoted as saying.
You are suggesting that he is lying?

If it's in The Sun, it must be true. Just a bit weird that a player is put off by his opinion of the chairman & subsequently then joins a club owned by Roland Duchatelet. Each to their own...

That’s over two hours! Glad someone was available to summarise it. I got about half an hour through of discussing Will Grigg before CM put his foot down and changed the conversation.

An independent football financial expert has raised concerns about the financial stability of Sunderland in league one. Their wage bill is beyond anything this league has ever seen and they still owe money for outstanding transfers. They cleared most of the deadwood, and what's left would have likely decreased in value being one year further into their contracts and a season of relative failure under their belt.

They sold 10% of the club for £2m to Satori. That valued the club at £20m when they were expecting to walk this league. So the idea that all of these potential investors are ready to throw 10's of millions at the club is highly unlikely.

They state that the Daily Mail are being sued for a misleading article. This will either never happen, or if it was to happen they would lose miserably. The facts represented by the Mail are not disputed. The implication that SD is looking to make a quick buck is an opinion but hardly an impossible one to accept. The most misleading thing here is the promise to sue!

Lyle Taylor joined a different club on less money with potentially less chance of success. He stated that this was because of the naivety of SD and others at boardroom level, and there is no reason not to believe this. The idea that he turned his back on potentially the biggest deal of his career to stay in London is ridiculous. He has previously played for Falkirk, Sheffield United, Scunthorpe and Patrick Thistle spending 5 years in the north, so I think it's fair to take him at his word.

SD can moan about internet trolls as much as he wants, but as we all know, talk is cheap and actions are all that matters. So far, I stand by my opinion that despite everything, Sunderland remain a mess both on and off the field and a long way from the glorious return to the top that they expect.

So it's nothing to do with being desperate to prove SD wrong, but just to say that I disbelieve a lot of it and the usual spin from Charlie.

I actually rate SD highly.
I just dont get how the Sun can claim.this if KT didn't say that. Presumably he could sue them if he didnt say that?

What has Lyle Taylor or The Sun to gain from making up stuff about Sunderland?

Edit: Quote function didn’t work. This was meant to be in reply to Scotchegg!

Ok, fair enough.

Yes or No answer. Do you want SD to be a success at Sunderland? By success I mean make money out of his purchase which is likely to mean promotion for them in the near future.

Yes for me - the usual not at the expense of the mighty yellows etc.

The reason I ask is that there seems to be an undercurrent from some posters on here / Twitter etc that took great delight from them losing on Sunday. Some of those posters went on about some Sunderland fans expecting an easy promotion as a reason for enjoying the Charlton win, whilst forgetting we had similar fans in the conference.

I’m quite keen for SD to do well, as he has supported OUFC in a number of ways (inc financially) previously. If he makes money at Sunderland then he may be an option should the club need financial support / be sold in the future.

If he ever bought OUFC then I’m sure he’d want his cut, and wouldn’t be a ‘Jack Walker’ type benefactor. But he has helped OUFC in the past, so based on that I hope he things work out for him at Sunderland.
