Stewart Donald anyone.....

Reiterate the point again that I did call him out per above incorrect accusation you made.

And I think many found it abusive and rude hence why 14 people liked my original post.

And yes looking forward to an exciting new season hopefully
Fair enough. I seem to remember u were on a year long forum break in America ?was it at the time and not posting. But maybe u did. Like i said nothing against stewart at all, seems a genuinely honest nice guy, and very open with fans. The other, well im not going to forgive or forget what was said to me or others, but the same as at the time i havnt and wont drop to a level lower than a bit of P**s taking . Have a nice summer ricky. We got an exciting season to look forward to

Although I do feel for Stewart Donald, he must have been aware that owning a football club of any size and chasing success is like sending your money on a holiday that it’s unlikely to come back from.

Unfortuantly Charlie has said stuff in the past that I found truly outrageous. I won’t go into it but I did message him to express my disgust at what he was trying to do. I said back then that karma might bite him in the backside and it has.

Wasn’t Charlie given a free part of the club - 6% or something like that?

He’ll make some money out of this sooner or later, yesterday’s result probably just delayed that.

Anyway if Charlie makes money out of it then Donald would make a lot more. There may be a chance one day we need that, and he may one day come back in for the club. If he makes money and leaves Sunderland then worse case scenario for us is that there may be another potential investor available to Oxford.

For that reason and the fact that SD has helped us financially in the past I hope they do go up.

I feel I have a incredibly boring and non controversial opinion on this whole affair. I wanted Charlton to stay down because I live in London and The Valley is a very convenient and fun away day. Otherwise couldn't care less!

Exactly the same reason I was torn by yesterday. Really didn't want to see Sunderland back up at the first try (don't mind them sneaking up next year), but also sad to lose another Southern club from the league.

If we make the step up next year, just think of all the London away days we will have access to!

As far as having a pop at Sunderland, what were people really expecting?

When an opposition player goes down under a challenge, do we collectively check on their wellbeing? No! It's either "she fell over" or "let him die" or various things in between. Goal kicks were often done to a chorus of "you're s*** aaaaagggghhhhhhhh", every stadium around the world has probably heard "s*** ground, no fans", and most players and managers have been labelled a horses a**e at one time or another.

Sunderland are a big club who have massively underperformed, so they were going to cop a bit no matter what. The links with SD, but more significantly Charlie, have magnified what they are getting but it's still nothing to work anyone up about!

When I've said about having a "pop" it was more the personal stuff (only a very few admittedly) aimed at SD as he hasn't done anything to warrant it, imo other than try to help Oxford United in the past as a fan.

I couldn't care less, one way or the other about Sunderland though if people take the mickey out of the collective club etc..

But I disagree with your opinion that you should avoid the internet if you disagree with obnoxious , toxic or ridiculous opinions. The reality is we should start calling out pathetic, unpleasant, lazy or illogical where we see it because otherwise it will become an accepted norm.
Indeed....this well-worn argument across the whole spectrum of social media is of course a**e about face.....
....one SHOULD NOT HAVE TO avoid the internet if you disagree with "obnoxious , toxic or ridiculous opinions" ..... it should be those who seem capable of ONLY posting such opinions that should avoid / be removed from the internet....

It SHOULD be a home to sensible, reasoned debate and education, where we all learn from each other, not the a refuge for the polarised views of hate and offence that it appears to have become.....

Now then nurse, have you got those pills you mentioned earlier??

Massively under performed? Really?

SD's, dad, Ian, bailed OUFC out to the turn of £250,000, a number of years ago, when OUFC had serious cash flow problems and were going to the wall. Additionally, SD, used to back North Leigh, via very generous team sponsorship. A local family who have been extremely successful, and who put their money back into their community. Lets show some respect to the SD at this difficult time.

I have nothing but respect for SD for all he's done for us and North Leigh. But I'm afraid that Charlie is, well, a right Charlie.
Must admit I cheered when Charlton scored their second. Shame for SD but Sunderland as a team did not deserve to go up.

I’m not too sure what this has to do with Sunderland under achieving? I also haven’t noticed anyone slag SD off. In fact most people respect SD.

I do genuinely feel for SD. He did take a big risk in Sunderland hoping to cash it out quickly, and it hasn't quite worked - may be he was too naive. He, and his family, have always come across as genuine and caring OUFC fans, and I see little malice towards him. SD always acted on here with a level of class and understanding when he didn't need to.

The little troll he willingly associates with, well, that's another matter. I reserve the right to heartily laugh at someone who likened met to a gang banger, and other such epithets because he was incapable of being civil. He made things malicious and hateful when many people were very civil - people like him are what makes the internet toxix.

The one thing I would question with SD's club ownership is that he sometimes appears to encourage deals for players and staff he knows. Eastleigh looked like at OUFC veterans side at times, and it was no surprise Sunderland went for Chris Maguire in the summer and were actively looking at Nelson. Also Will Grigg appears to be a player bought on name rather than form or fitness. Of course, it's his money and he can spend it how he wants, but success is rarely achieved when directed from the boardroom. Ross managed well in Scotland but would not have known much about league 1. If Sunderland are to improve on a smaller (but still significant) budget then they need to scout much better and pick up a mixture of experienced league 1 players and hungry lower league players or talented kids from PL (exactly the same model we all need!!). SD needs to keep himself away from player recruitment and Charlie needs to be locked in a box somewhere!!

What were you expecting from Sunderland this year? Their budget was 3 or 4 times that of most other sides with players like Cattermole with PL experience and paid more than the first 11 of other sides. They spent millions on Grigg in January with the intention of storming the league but failed. They finished 5th. They bored out the playoff semi's and then despite being gifted a goal against Charlton ended up being very much second best when beat. That looks like a massive underperformance to me, and to those including SD who banked on immediate promotion.

I judge football teams on whether they outperform their player budget. So Sheffield United and Chris Wilder deserved manager of the season.
For us , we underperformed and should have been a lot closer to the play offs. But the finish to the season encourages me that a good summer recruitment will see us challenging next year.
Sunderland have massively underperformed and it’s probably a hangover from overpaid players from the championship. Could have got Appleton for a fraction of what they paid for Griggs and he’d have done a better job than Ross.

Ross staying then according to this

it's a big gamble as if they have a poor start they're stuck with his summer recruits

"There were 4 or 5 investors at Wembley and they weren't put off by the defeat."

That may be so, but Sunderland are worth considerably more as a Championship club than they are in league one. SD sold 10% of the club to Satori for £2m when they underestimated how much the running costs were. I can't see any future investor paying at a greater rate, without gaining full control of the club.

Sunderland remain a gamble that could pay out big with promotion and success in the Championship but will continue to hemorrhage cash in league one. But without the huge parachute payment they had this year it will still cost a great deal to turn around years of failure.

SD saying that he can continue to fund them at this level has echoes of DE's last days in charge and I can see him being little more than a minor investor come the beginning of the season.

i do not know either of them and how people choose to spend their money is their choice but why would anyone bet against the club they claim to support especially given what long term affect relegation would have on the club..To then openly brag about doing so when in all probability the takeover at sunderland was already in advanced talks is never something i will understand.

Your football club is for life
