Manager/Coach Robinson's 2018 Team vs Now

So we've gone full circle under Robinson and ended up back in the same place where we were when he joined. I thought it would be interesting to compare the players that he started with when he arrived, to the team he left us with after 5 years. Granted, in between we've seen some brilliant signings come and go but let's not forget he started the season with substantial resources to mount a promotion push after an 8th place finish the season before.

This team also lost 3-0. It was definitely a weak team mostly cobbled together by 11th hour signings, youngsters and loanees but it did enough to survive. Todd Kane had a huge impact and Brannagan and Ledson were instrumental in midfield. This side also enjoyed some big wins before a similar fall-off to what we've seen this year. Looking at both sides, there aren't too dissimilar really - both weak, disjointed and lacking in key areas. The big difference is the one concocted by Clotet was built on very little whereas Robinson's squad which also doesn't include high earners like Murphy, Taylor and Jones had a greater spend and far more lucrative contracts tied down. Whoever takes over will have one hell of a tough job offloading some of the deadwood let alone finding adequate replacements.

Rothwell, Mowatt and Ledson all left and have been regular in the Championship ever since. Dickie, Ruffles and Kane all feature but haven't cemented themselves. Really not a lot between the two but things are definitely more sour with the team we have and I hope we have enough character to get out of this under a new manager.

Dickie played 43 games in his first season at QPR, winning Supporters' Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Goal of the Season. He played 38 games last year, and 26 this year (so far).

And this year he’s been one of their worst performers. Unlike Ledson, he’s not proven himself at that level despite a very strong opening season.

I'm talking about cementing themselves in the Championship obviously. He's had one great season and another where he's been dropped for several games. 4th worst defence in the league and conceded 11 more than Cardiff.

Tbf to Dickie, QPR are woeful this season and with Ainsworth in charge could still get relegated

I think the 2018 team is better.

Once KR realized that Smith-Brown was utter trash, and started playing Ruffels or Ricardinho there instead, that was a pretty decent back four.

Central midfield was very strong, and Henry was a top League One player back then.

Strikers were crap, but at least we had some!

Wes Thomas would, at minimum, not made us any worse this season which is incredible. The team he inherited would wallop what he took half a decade and millions of pounds putting together.
