General John Hollins RIP

I don't remember him as a player, but do as Chelsea manager. Pretty sure he was in charge of them when we had the 'battle of the champions' match at the end of the 1983/4 season (we won League III and they won League II), as well as our games against them in the top flight.

RIP.

Sad news. Definitely one I remember from my childhood in the late 60's and 70's, one of those players who always seemed to play, never a sub or dropped - haven't looked but I wouldn't be surprised if he clocked up 800 + games. I'm guessing he'd have played a fair few games alongside our old player, Peter Houseman, in that Chelsea midfield of the early 70's. A tidy footballer who kept it ticking over, not a hard man but quietly aggressive.

RIP.

Very likely playing in the first live match I ever went to for the Arsenal very early 80's or late 70's .Taken by my old man although no idea who it was against

Had a brief chat with him about the quality of chips in Sketty in 2001.
