Apart from conceding two sloppy goals.I know we lost but were we better at the back today?
That was it today.Do feel Pompey are the L1 masters of the string in the tail - nicking wins and taking points when underperforming. But my fingers will be crossed for the second half.
As long as heβs still in the job itβs never too late, but it certainly adds weight to every game. Today was big. He either needed a win or a big performance to restore some interest in whatβs left of the season - I.e. a feeling that we can still do it. He got the latter which at least allows us to approach Saturday with some optimism rather than dread. Sadly thatβs where we are now. Small incremental wins while we wait patiently for Des to find to the formula. 6 wins feels like a lot to me but we need to approach it as a fresh start in a 10 game mini league and try and top it, then who knows. Approach the play offs with 6 or 7 wins in your last 10 and youβll arguably be the favourite.Way too late, it's only taken 20 games to get a half decent performance out of this team and we still lost.
A bit of a running theme there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Burey subbed at half time in a game, and hasn't featured since?
If so, I'd imagine he's upset Des either with his reaction to being subbed, or something since
Can't see any other reason he's not at least making the squad
In my local, consensus of opinion from Pompey fans was, we were brilliant and they got lucky.
Before the game all I asked was that Des unlocked the shackles. Iβm now convinced he reads this forum. We were brilliant. Deserved 3 points. Ok forget the first 90 seconds. Dale and Murphs were almost unplayable.
Fans were great and the rendition of oh when the saints was so funny, and was heard by the Fratton end.
What I want to say is for all of you who werenβt at the game today is this bunch of players believe in Des, they ran through hoops for him. We deserved so much more today and I couldnβt have been prouder being a Yellow.
Sorry Eggy if Iβm more positive than you tonight.
Now for a kebab as Iβm starving and havenβt eaten since breakfast and my best mate ( who is a Pompey fan) told me he was diagnosed with prostate cancer yesterday. So Iβm doubley pissed off tonight. Lifeβs a bitch.
He needs to be taken off of them unless they're penalities or around 20 yards out within sight of goals, his corners are quite often awful and I'd rather him on the edge of the box when we take ones out wide.Granted his set pieces werenβt generally that good
Absolutely, thought it was strange though that Reuben took that one in the second half just outside the area as it looked prime Brannagan territory. He needs to be taken off of them unless they're penalities or around 20 yards out within sight of goals, his corners are quite often awful and I'd rather him on the edge of the box when we take ones out wide.
Nothing in Denmark is worth taking a trip for. From what I was told today heβs been late for training & been taking unauthorised trips to and from Denmark.. that might be why.
...hey were excellent and will make the playoffs comfortably on that performance. They were a huge step up from when we played them at their place but they get 1 point more for that performance than this such is the mad nature of football.
Well it's that's true, then Des is fully justified in his stanceFrom what I was told today heβs been late for training & been taking unauthorised trips to and from Denmark.. that might be why.
Not until itβs not mathematically possible.Much better performance but it looks like our season is over, I thought so last week against Leyton Orient.
We will finish higher than last year maybe as high as ninth, but as for the play offs letβs be realistic and write this season off
Poor decision making firstly by Moore then by Brown for their winner, both tried to jump in, shame.Portsmouth 2-1 Oxford Utd | League One highlights

The freakish bit of good fortune that kept the ball in play for their winner is really galling.
Just one of those days.
I was hoping weβd start with them both playing, but would have definitely liked to see them on the field together at some point.Still have no idea how we lost that. Much improved performance. Played with more urgency, hopefully that will be a sign of things to come. Only negative was the substitutionsβ¦..completely ruined the flow of the game when we were on top. Chasing a game like that I would have liked to have seen Goodwin play up top with Harris alongside or just behind him
Brannagan didnβt take all the set pieces today which was good, but the delivery/shots still need to be worked on.He needs to be taken off of them unless they're penalities or around 20 yards out within sight of goals, his corners are quite often awful and I'd rather him on the edge of the box when we take ones out wide.
@BigCrompy you disagree ?Not really.
The free kick launched sideways hard and out for a throw in was the root cause. Which comes from the players being unsure of a clear game plan .
