I think Barnsley might get sucked into the battle for 6th place. They beat Burton today but that's still only 6 pints out of the last 15 and they have Portsmouth, Stevenage and Blackpool to play away.

I guess it's subjective, but who has the easier "run in" out of us and Lincoln?

I reckon it's close.

April 6th - Burton (A) vs. Reading (A)......slight advantage to us, because Reading are a better team than Burton, and Burton are bottom of the form table
April 13th - Peterborough (H) vs. Wigan (H)......advantage to Lincoln, no question
April 19th/20th - Stevenage (H) vs. Cheltenham (A)......maybe slight advantage to Lincoln, but not as much as you might think. Both because they're away, and because Stevenage have fallen through the floor and not won in seven
April 27th - Exeter (A) vs. Pompey (H)......advantage to us, no question. And possibly a big advantage if Pompey haven't wrapped up the title by then.

Good result, enough said.

However if we persist to play RR in our current set up, against the stronger sides coming up we will not get away with it.

Sorry no pace, poor control and passing ability. Hence why he is always caught in possession and falling over looking for the foul.

Nearly too late to address though what O Smith has done wrong is clearly baffling.
How he cannot be tried and given the minutes that the aged Henry has is strange.

Anyhow I just hope I am proved wrong

Probably agree with that. I think Pompey will have wrapped up promotion by then, got to pray title is still at stake. Will definitely be supporting whoever Pompey are playing until that last game!!!! If things have been settled then I still think they will want to go out with a bang and appease that support - I’m fairly confident they will put in a performance at Lincoln no matter what!

Not so sure about that. I think we could have given them a goal, maybe two goal start, and still won with a bit to spare.
I agree, hence me starting off by saying they’re the worst league one team I recall seeing, but what I was trying to say was, we just don’t know how the dynamics would have gone if they had gone 2-0 up e.g. home crowd turns, players start to turn on one another, then try to hard etc, but agree the way the game actually panned out and if Fleetwood ended up playing how they did, then yes we would have still probably won 4-2 or by more!!

Amazing how things can turn around - Skubala got 12 points from his first 13 games at Lincoln. Since then unbeaten with 10 wins in 12 (i.e. 32 points).

Fleetwood were poor, but sometimes it’s the opposition who make a team look poor.

The previous four Fleetwood away games resulted in draws against Stevenage 0-0, Port Vale 2-2, Exeter 1-1, and a defeat against Lincoln 2-1.

So we’re the first team for a while to win convincingly against them.

Buckingham has changed us tactically, and the result today would have given the team a bit of confidence and belief in him, which to my mind is really important if Des is going to be a success at OUFC.

8500 is a decent crowd for two established league 1 teams that have been clogging around in the same league for nearly 10 years..
Like I said unless you give free tickets away your never going to fill the place against Fleetwood Town .
Also a large part of the fanbase don't come from oxfordshire .
We had 10,000 home fans against Accrington for a dead rubber at the end of last season. We now have 3 home games which could cement our place in the playoffs if we win them all.

We expect the players to give everything, but we also need to do the same as a fanbase and do all we can to help get the results we need.

Yeah, well on paper I’d say Lincoln probably have the slightly better run in, but they’ve got Reading away next weekend so might slip up there, then they’ve got Wigan at home which you’d say they’d probably win before playing us away!!

There’s going to be a few twists & turns over the next 5 games for all 4 or 5 teams in contention, but what’s sure is, if we win all 5 games we’ll make the play offs!

Famous last words but I’d be pretty surprised if they got 3 more points than us from these games, and astonished if we got 4 more than them.

Does feel like it’ll come down to the β€œsix pointer” between us at this point.

It’s a fair point because there’s no doubt about it, fans around me and outside the corporate boxes behind were getting restless in those minutes before we scored. A few were bellowing at Des to sort it out because it was looking a very β€˜Des Buckingham’ performance at that point - sideways passing in our half and over hit long balls. The foul not given that led to our opener changed everything though and we were great value in the end.

They’ll smash Wigan. Reading could be tricky though.

On the one hand having 3 home games on the bounce is great and might bring some positive momentum.

But on the other hand it does hit household budgets all coming in a 7 day period.

Haven't read all of these posts but nice to see us taking some chances and we could have had more. On the other hand we could have conceded at least 2/3 today against an absolutely shocking Fleetwood side and it looked as if we had a big slice of luck not conceding a free kick for our first (although we've also generally had pretty crap luck since Buckingham got here so perhaps just evening out). If we play that formation against someone good then we'll get turned over, we're just so open.

Plenty of positives though and I can't recall a manager change having as big an effect on a player as we're seeing with Murphy, absolutely excellent again today. I was buzzing when we signed Leigh but Bennett works well behind Murphy and was an excellent pick up for free outside a transfer window. Onwards to Burton and hopefully Reading can do us a favour as well.

Weird old game IMO. I thought we were as dull as ditchwater again for the first 15 minutes. Fleetwood (who were awful) probably should have taken the lead, but then the ref failed to award a foul to them (it was obvious and blatant) and ten seconds later a wicked deflection gives us the lead. That sparked us into action and we were decent for the rest of the half - albeit with Fleetwood giving us the ball all the time by farting about with it at the back. They could easily have scored before halftime though.

I was hoping the second half would see us pressing forward trying to improve our goal difference, but no - more slow stuff. Brannagan tried to inject something, but couldn't really get us going. Who decided that the best way to get Browne into the game was to boot head high balls at him?

I don't really think, despite the scoreline, that game showed that the team is any further forward. Some decent individual performances from a few, a period of decent play and 3 points is what I took away from watching that. It's an odd feeling to walk back to the car after a 4-0 win and not be particularly happy.
