Despite Middleton’s claim to be ‘cautiously neutral’, we and those that take an interest in the matter know that is simply a lie, we all know he’s anti stadium.
The new Bicester and Woodstock constituency is likely to be fought primarily between the Conservatives and the LibDems, so they have the most to win or lose. Don’t expect either party to nail their colours to the mast when it comes to the stadium. They’ll both be getting splinters from fence sitting, but give encouraging noises depending on who their audience is. They’ll eventually go whichever way the wind blows.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Labour came out and said they were pro stadium. Anneliese Dodds the Labour MP for East Oxford has already come out in support.
What you can be sure of is that if and when the stadium gets built, politicians from all sides will be claiming it was they that held the club to task whilst making sure they get their photo taken at the stadium on grand opening day wearing an OUFC scarf.
