New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

Just attended the excellent webinar too. Nothing is set in stone, so fans feedback is critical to get all the design aspects right. Safe standing or as it’s known now, Rail seating is definitely going to happen, just not confirmed which stands yet, away fans will also have this. The bar area is also open for design options to be a flexible space as needed maybe accessed via the concourse and plaza area for example.
Certainly very professionally presented, we all need to put our thoughts and suggestions forward to make this the best experience possible!
Ah, safe standing is now called rail seating - I had seen rail seating mentioned but assumed it was something you sit on! Thanks for the clarification, was worried a standing area was off the menu.

In my opinion, one largish standing area behind a goal is the way to go. Should away fans also get a smaller standing area? Would probably help atmosphere.

Overall, I am really excited about this project. 😁 COYY

If the stadium is zero plastic, what is the sports bar going to serve our pints of Fosters/Strongbow in on match days? Paper cups? Intrigued to see how they get around that one. Also intrigued to see how long before Middleton reads this and try’s to spin it.
You can get cups that look like plastic which are in fact plastic free these days. I have used them at several festivals. Bound to be a bit more expensive, but worth it. They Can also offer a cheaper pint if you reuse your cup, to reduce waste 👍

I reckon it will either be the Oxford Community Stadium or have a sponsors name, something like BK Arena or BMW Field.
Hopefully the words 'Arena' and 'Field' will be nowhere near it, far to Americanised. Stick to 'Stadium' or 'Ground' please OUFC. The Oxfordshire Community Stadium sounds good to me.

Nowadays I watch Brentford as often as I watch The Yellows. The Gtech is a wonderful stadium.
- matchday stewards control a traffic light crossing on the M4. No problems.
- the turnstiles open 2 hours before ko. For the first hour food and drink in the concourses is quite heavily discounted. EG the ale is London Pride, and during the Earlybird hour it is £4 a pint, then £6. 50 afterwards. Clearly this attracts fans to arrive early, boosting turnover and spreading the arrival time of fans.
- pints are served in plastic, but are re-usable.

Sir Keir Starmer is on LBC at the moment talking with Nick Ferrari. NF pressed him on the improvements KS wants to make in the planning systems in the UK and if he intends to protect the Green Belt. KS said that the Green Belt is safe, but that they will build on (for example) 'disused car parks and scrubland'.

That's encouraging.

But the owners are promoting Oxford to an International market, based on the International appeal of Oxford as a brand . . . . .

But yeah, "Arena" is a concert venue and "field" is where you play football with jumpers for goalposts . . .or your dog takes a s**t (or often both), so steer clear.

That's a great idea for getting fans in early. Definitely something we ought to adopt.

What will the stadium name be? I assume it will be a Major Sponsor…

Perfect. Use these with some sort of return deposit system and it's all good.

Was in an all inclusive hotel in Majorca on the family holiday this summer and they actually had something like this, place had about 2000 guests and the system worked well so its not undoable on a large scale, especially if you add in improved technology in aspects like multi pour systems and pre pay etc, could actually help keep queues down.

It wouldn't be beyond reason to have a mobile app for food/drink orders from your seat. Select your seat number, what you want, the system allocates you a collection point and time. Easy.

Well I say 'Easy', Edgbaston tried something similar for the Ashes test in the summer and messed it up entirely, although to be fair the average cricket crowd would probably drink more beer in one day than a football crowd would consume in half a season...
