Watching on iFollow, we can have no complaints about Leigh's second yellow (was a really dumb challenge at any time, but especially when you've just seemingly rescued a point. I guess he was overexcited......) or the penalty (more sympathy for Stevens as the guy was bearing down on goal and he had to do something. Still a serious collective defensive breakdown to leave so much space in our box in the 96th minute, even with nine men).

No idea on the Harris red card though.
We can complain about his 1st yellow though. Wasn't even a foul and the free kick they scored from wasn't a foul and taken 5 yards from where the incident took place

Maybe a bit of a reality check.
No way did PV deserve that but they were more disciplined and pragmatic than we were.
Stan Mills bombing past his full back, again and putting in a cross - we were still going for the win, but should have settled for a draw at that stage.
Some positives- Mills and Edwards both looked good when they came on, Leigh was good until his second booking. Maguane excellent again.
The concern is how we get to win against solid, defensive sides who set out to frustrate us.

From Manning’s interview and the footage he’s seen, it sounded like an elbow and he’s only perplexed as to why a stamp was cited.

I’m more annoyed at us than the Ref today - as Manning correctly said, we got way too emotional at the end when we should have shut up shop at 1-1.

Still, we’ve got a coaching staff and set of players who will learn from this though I think.

Wasn’t able to follow the game today other than checking the scores for the last 20 minutes so can’t make a judgement on the calls the referee made.

I think no matter how s**t a ref is, you need to try your best not to give him a decision to make. Scoring the equaliser was our get out of jail free card, and to get another player sent off and concede a penalty in the 6 minutes you needed to just see out is a bit naΓ―ve. A point following 4 wins would have been a good outcome.

Still, just like the Bristol City game I don’t think it should be panic stations, the players should learn from this, and I’m confident they will. Better to have this type of game earlier in the season where we can learn from it and not do it again. Still 40 more games to go!

Disappointing today, Referee was horrific & the linesman not much better.

3 Balls flashed across the box with no forward on the end of them in the first half that a poacher would have been on the end of. We don’t get enough players in the box, and great balls across the box often go unfinished when they fly across the box.
You aren’t going to get Tyler wonder strikes every week, we need to convert some of these scruffier chances. Our team is also really young and inexperienced and that cost us against a cynical bunch. I bet we bounce back stronger though

Yes, the ref wasnt even looking at the "incident"
Ok - so he must have been told what happened by either the linesman or the fourth official, neither of whom are likely to make something up for a bit of a laugh. It was telling to me that Harris didn't protest much and talked to the linesman indicating that the PV defender had perhaps 'walked into his elbow' - not exactly a great defence.

Manning said he's seen it back and there was an elbow and we won't be appealing. They said it was a stamp so it sounds as if they've guessed and happened upon the correct decision
And there we have it. The officials got certain things wrong today including imho missing the ball being out of play just before they awarded the free kick to PV that they scored from BUT our manager has confirmed that Harris should have been sent off. Well done the officials on that incident.

I called it a few days ago - we're doing that thing where we look like Barcelona against the big footballing teams but struggle against the regulars.

Hopefully this isn't the blueprint for the season but we've looked so good these last few games that it probably won't leave us too low in the table.

And Harris needs to grow up quickly.
As Purkiss said on RO, before he was sent off, it looked like a matter of time before Oxford went 1 up.

The difference so far is that we’ve beaten the big teams (rather than just looking excellent and only getting a point or losing).

But yes, today felt like a lesson.

I hope we do learn from it as we’ve got great potential.

And the ball went out of play 10 seconds before for our throw in which wasn’t given

Very true.

As much as I am smarting right now and believe some (not all) referring decisions were truly shocking I'm not blind to some of our short comings, most noticeable of all being not getting players into the box quickly enough, but thank God we don't have to suffer a Karl Robinson post match interview!!!

Those scruffier chances are the balls flashed across the box that happened 3 times today and nobody was on the end of it. It’s always been that way. A top class finisher is on the end of those chances. That’s what we are missing, for all he works hard. Harris is not a poacher and won’t be in the box when those balls flash across the box

Harris won't be "in the box" anyway for the next few matches.

Yes the ref was shocking but the truth is we have to be more disciplined and streetwise, we should be walking away with a point and just the one sending off (really silly from Harris it seems) yet we now have two suspensions now and we drop five places (yes I know it's only 6 games!)

Why aren't our experienced players shouting at the younger ones and calming things down? Did we get too excited at 1-1? Did we really think we could go on and win it? Could Brown have been brought on at 1-1 to shore things up? Could Manning have helped? Could Perkins have been given more time?

I'm a bit disappointed that the momentum we built up over the last four games seems to have been temporarily halted and I hope the fact we don't have a game next weekend doesn't slow things down too. There was such a good feeling after Charlton and with the end of the window, and it now seems today has brought a lot of fans back down to earth (I guess that's a good thing tho!)

I do have total faith in Manning but still at the back of my mind is the thought we should have pushed for that elusive number nine, and as it turns out it would really have help led over the next three league games. Guess we will see how it goes. COYY's.

Awful ref, awful linesmen and awful game. Such a shame as was looking forward to it all week.

Missed Marcus Brown....we need him back ASAP. A lot of lovely football but not many chances. Gatlin might have run the clock down. Just didn't seem to click, especially second half.
