Ex-Staff Karl Robinson

Yep. On the assumption that @Manorlounger was accurate in his account - and I've no reason to doubt him - KR seemed to be mocking OUFC supporters and perhaps Williams lacks the gravitas required for a man in his position.
He was, and I was there mate. @Manorlounger was seething his nostrils flared and were smoking.

I know not many will agree with this, but at Burton I actually felt a bit sorry for KR, he must have known his days were numbered, but he looked beaten, alone and helpless on the touch line then, and he should have been put out of his misery weeks ago.

I will thank him for the good times and wish him well in his future endeavours but truth be told I won't miss him.

Not sure Short, Leon or Brown are the answer even on a short term basis tho!

I'm now looking forward to us getting in a manager with a bit of tactical nous, who has the ability to build a proper balanced squad, and someone who can give a proper post match interview and call it as it is! No more bluster and incoherent babbling!! COYY's!!!

I agree, I'm not sure any of those three are the answer and I think having three people in charge isn't a good thing either. One of them should have been given the lead with the other two supporting.

I'm not offering an opinion on whether Sykes felt ostracised while here as I have no inside knowledge so happy to bow to those who do. However, that message he put out seems completely respectable to me.
He’s not going to be obviously disrespectful as it wouldn’t look good on him in a professional environment, but I know for a fact that what I’ve stated is the case. He’s a decent lad & he’s worded it in a way where it sounds like it can be disrespectful but also in a way where it can sound like he’s paying him respect. People that have came into contact with Sykes & Whyte will tell you like Ryan did that they couldn’t get away from the club quick enough as they knew where it was heading this season. It’s no coincidence our transfer dealings were harder than ever, that’s without Karl’s obvious failings due to allowing his personal life to get in the way of his job. Players talk, that’s why we have struggled to get the right players. They all talk to each other & KR didn’t have a good reputation towards the end & as such we got dealt freebies & his mates who couldn’t get a contract elsewhere

Right

Now is the time for all ST holders and fans who have not been going to get along and give 100% support
We can see how fragile we are if we concede first, what the lads need is real backing at that point. So let’s turn up in numbers starting away at Lincoln and try and fill Grenoble Road with as many as we can get vDerby and for the rest of the season.

I thank KR for 3.5 seasons out of 5 that he was here but he’d become complacent and when that happens you go backwards
Yep let's all have bums on seats and sell out for Derby COYY

I don't disagree in terms of Karl losing certain players etc. Will have to agree to disagree on the message from Sykes though. It's also fairly common to leave a difficult situation and then reflect on the positives too. Seems people with a certain agenda are looking for anything to back their view up including using this perfectly respectable message from Sykes.

I would agree on some occasions bud, but like I said. I know for a fact he hated Robinson. That’s just a fact. That didn’t stop after he left. Whyte would have come back if Robinson wasn’t in charge. They are just the truth. There is many other instances too, not having a go at you about it though 👌

Deffo taking the P**s. Laughing face emoji afterwards
Don't want to get into a debate on emojis but it was the smiling emoji he used (I use when thanking people) not the laughing one (which would have clearly meant he was taking the P**s).

KR's main problem with transfers is he always thought he could do a "good deal" by finding a player who was underpriced for their ability. This was usually because of their injury record or other less savoury circumstances (Ched Evans, Nile Ranger). He didn't seem to realise that being supposedly underpriced because of a bad injury record isn't actually being underpriced.
SO nice to hear KR spoken about in the past tense!

Normally I'd agree with you but Robinson tried his hardest to surround himself with weak characters, so it should have come as little surprise to him that when the going got tough, he and he alone would be stood there taking the brunt of the anger.

If you treat people with utter distain then don't be surprised if you're treated the same

I think it's very clear that something happened 10 games before the end of last season and since then he has been a very different manager….

As some have alluded to elsewhere on this forum the BBC ‘Moment of Truth’ podcast which commenced recording last March was interesting to say the least.
All the clues were there for all. I listened intently and indeed was gripped by it. The series stripped Robinson bare and brutally exposed his frailties. I’ve no doubt that he had difficult personal issues and he looked to be beaten and broken last April. The melt down he had on the touch line at Morecambe in particular and the aftermath was a tough listen as was the Sunderland home defeat. The HT dressing down of the players during the MK match was completely unacceptable although we did win it late on.

He never recovered , things unravelled further and he should have been relieved of his duties last Autumn after the predictable Wycombe home loss following a calamitous
summer in respect of recruitment and poor results.
