Away Match Day Thread +++ 02/02/2019 Burton Albion v OUFC match day thread +++

I really struggle to see how someone who’s unhappy about the teams performance or how they are being run is any more likely to be a scum fan than a supporter who turns a blind eye to poor results and poor ownership.

How about instead of chipping at each other we focus our efforts on those that have brought this mess to our door.

If you don’t think being in the bottom four for almost all season or not winning away from gone for a calendar year (think that’s correct) is mess then fair enough but don’t moan about those that do.

Just back from Burton, thought we played very well but that counts for nothing when you don't win against 10. Sinclair looks like a good striker who has no confidence and hasn't quite understood how we play. Made some tidy runs and if he wasn't brought down he would've had a 1on1 with the keeper. Grahams threat was minimal because they doubled up on him the whole game and forced him inside and stopped him from getting to the byline to cross.

I think taking Mous off for Mackie was the wrong decision i would have kept Mous on and took Graham off as he was getting no luck on the wing and the defence looked vulnerable in the 2nd half.

We had ample opportunities to score but didn't take them. 3 or 4 times they cleared of the line when keeper was beaten. Don't know what happened to set pieces as they were awful compared to Tuesday. Burton lucky not to be down to 9 in my opinion after that tackle on Eastwood other then that the ref had a pretty good game.

The negativity on this forum tonight is boring the f**k out of me,sarge and bazzer are agreeing and disagreeing with everything.

Well that was frustrating. Burton were there for the taking. I don’t think we are going to get a better chance to win an away game this season!

Side note - how fat was the referee?
He was very fat, but I thought he had a good game.

Plenty of clogging up the forum with tosh shall we say. Staying away for the night.

You and your kind were spouting the same shite last season from December onwards...football fans do not ever give up on their club no matter the situation...if you truly believe that we are among the 4 worst sides in the league then i give up...instead of thinking rationally and looking around at the table where there's sweet felicity adams between about 12 clubs you continue to post nothing but drivel and negativity.
have an opinion Kip but keep it real and sensible and at least act like you're a fan, nobody is burying their head in the sand except maybe yourself who clearly cannot see why your comments are unworthy with so many games remaining.
I find that ignore option help improve my well-being and general disposition. I let them run to they start to annoy me then take the option. Have a look occasionally and it usually confirms my decision.

Agree re calling people Swindon fans, but, don’t know if you saw them, the posts today were another level of relentless unhelpful negativity. As I pointed out above too, our points per game over the last 4 months has been 1.44, the rate of a side pushing for the playoffs, so, while that start was inexcusably terrible, results since then really haven’t been that bad.

In terms of a relation fight, I would much rather we be in the position we are this year, with the bad start and subsequent improvement, than last year, with the good start and then the terrifying and seemingly unstoppable slip towards the bottom 4.

For what it's worth, I thought the Burton keeper and defense chucked everything they had in the way today Nigel Clough must be very proud of them. We should have scored and won, we were so much better even when they had eleven on the pitch. It was disappointing can't pretend I'm not a bit P****d off at the table tonight, but some of our play was very very good and when Samir came on he looked capable of lifting us up, Browns back as well next week. Come on you Yellows

Game should have been done at half-time. Sinclair and Dickie missed big big chances. Mackie missed a big chance in the second half.
Other than that, we really struggled to break down the 10men of Burton through a combination of slow build up play, and no movement. Our final ball was poor all game. Our corners equally poor.

I think the Mackie for Mousinho change came too early. I'd have given it 15mins or so in the second half. Moving Henry deeper nullfied his threat in and around the penalty area and actually meant we eliminated our threat from the first half which was balls in over the top for Sinclair to chase on to.

Aside from his finishing (which KR cursed through his pre-match words), I thought Sinclair had a decent game. Nice to see a pacey forward in a yellow shirt. Not sure when Sykes is every going to get some gametime if he didn't get utilised today.

You would normally take a point away from home, but it does feel like 2 points dropped today and more importantly 4 points dropped this week. Which could be vital come May. Onto Sunderland!

Henry also had a good chance first 2 minutes was going in but keeper made a good save.

Our tactics were appropriate, so were substitutions but application poor. Burton defended excellently and were no mugs. They have a good manager in Clough.

Sinclair faded away totally after bright first quarter .

MOM Hanson - impressive urgency and energy.

Both wingers’ decision making disappointing.

On another day we win this comfortably. Trouble is there aren’t that many other days left.

Nice club Burton. Good little bar behind the seats, reasonable food and very friendly stewards.

Ignore the usual suspects..

Agree thought he was excellent both in defence and going forward, starting to fill his boots
