Home Match Day Thread 04/05/2024: L1 Play-Off SF 1st Leg - OUFC vs Peterborough

Great performance and result. Wont likely be enough but it gives us something to build on. We simply cannot sit on a 1-0 lead though as if we concede one, we'll likely get steamrolled if we start too defensive. Just got to play our normal game and it'll be interesting to see how Peterborough...

Ref Watch 04/05/2024: L1 Play-Off SF 1st Leg - OUFC vs Peterborough - Lewis Smith

I think the ref did a good job last night. Got all the key decisions right including booking Reuben and Bennett and the game flowed pretty well. Only 3 mins added on too which was a reflection of how both teams and the ref allowed the match to run without any BS.

Only thing I remember of Luke Foster was him getting sent off against Barrow in the FA Cup.

    Current Player #39 Gatlin O'Donkor

We need another two strikers with GOD remaining out on loan, preferably League 2. Although he's done well at Barnet, he's way off everything at a League One level but I'm hoping he's not going to be another Tyrone Marsh and we can get something out of him because he does have potential.

I'm not expecting any favours from Northampton and Portsmouth and even if we got them, I can't see us getting a result away at Exeter anyway. 3 home games in a row was the chance and all we really needed was to avoid losing to Lincoln and we failed. Our second chance was to simply beat Stevenage...

Home Match Day Thread 19/04/2024: L1 - OUFC v Stevenage

Poor display overall and a far cry from last Saturday. If we’re going to start Harris then you have to start Dale - it’s simply not good resting some players and not others. If you bring in Browne then you can easily play Bodin. Harris looked spent very early and was chasing shadows as we...

    Ref Watch 19/04/2024: L1 - OUFC v Stevenage - Tom Nield

Terrible ref and equally woeful assistants. Wasn’t a tough game to manage either but they failed in all their key decisions. Thankfully it was live on TV and earned plenty of National ridicule.

They had a one on one which the striker sliced wide with his left foot.

Ref Watch 16/4/24 Oxford United v Lincoln City - Lee Swabey

Ref lost control of the game very early on and was extremely card-happy. Also wasted way too much time and missed two absurdly blatant fouls late in the game on us.

Very poor display tonight especially in midfield. I think Des got the subs wrong and we did very little to combat their clear game plan - we actually played into their hands throughout by playing predictable passes and trying to get things going through the same players doing the same stuff. 2-3...

Home Match Day Thread 13/04/2024: L1: OUFC v Peterborough

I think so. By playing the same side as Saturday in an equally tough fixture, it will be another good test not just in terms of ability but consistency also. In the past we've had these amazing results with a reshaped team and then followed it up with an absolute stinker but if we can pull off...

Home Match Day Thread 13/04/2024: L1: OUFC v Peterborough

Best performance we've produced in the league for years. Every player was outstanding, we took our chances when needed and made a very good Peterborough side look worse than Fleetwood. It really could've been 9-0 and I don't think I've seen such an error-strewn performance from an away side...

    Ref Watch 01/04/24 - L1: OUFC v Fleetwood Town - Scott Jackson

I think the ref did a good job yesterday although it wasn't a very tough encounter to referee as said above. However I do believe he should've awarded them a foul when their striker got shoved over and we went down the other end and scored. Other than that there wasn't any mistakes or issues.

Away Match Day Thread 29/03/24 - L1: Shrewsbury v OUFC

We played pretty well today and should've won but the result simply isn't good enough. Whilst Des doesn't deserve blame today, it's results previous that make this a very infuriating day especially as we failed to capitalise on several results in our favour and then seeing us fall out of the...

    Ex Player #36 Jay Matete

The risk was him being signed ahead of a different target who could've been fit and in a more needed position. Nobody expected us to sign another defensive midfielder in January and many on here were expecting us to strengthen in other positions.

I did express my surprise at this signing in January and although it looked good on paper, it was always a huge risk with his injury track record.

    Matches Top 6 Race 2023/24

We are by far the weakest team in the top 6 but are leading the chase for a final place and should be bolstered by this position and an exciting run-in. Had Stevenage not fallen off so spectacularly, we could've easily been 6+ points adrift so to be one ahead of them is fortunate, yet brilliant...
