Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

Yes, my mistake.

What made you support OUFC sufficiently to buy a ST in KR's last season, when we knew what was happening behind the scenes, but you won't be supporting the manager and players this time around? Your posts insinuated that it is due to the manager...yet you've said that you've had a ST for 20 years, and so in that time have supported the final year under a bloke that was completely undermining the football club that you support.

Can't understand it, personally

Well I’m putting Des alongside Kemp etc. Results aside, this is one of the worst sides, in terms of watchability, that I’ve witnessed in my 53 years a fan. Perhaps it’s my age but a few times, a fair few times in fact, under Des I could have genuinely nodded off. I’ve honestly felt like going home at half time, it’s that mind numbingly boring watching us. I wouldn’t go to an away game under Des if you laid on a taxi and gave me the best seat in the house all expenses paid.
And the frightening thing is it’s happened the moment he walked through the door, with no sign that it’s going to improve any time soon

Excellent. We’ll enjoy your absence.

He does not have a clue, change the team starting with the keeper and let’s see.

He will have a time to sort it before the end of the season, after this he is history.
Yeah, let’s pick Eastwood who in the games he’s played this season dropped two clangers. No ta.

Joshua - the bloke that can support Robinson, while he single handedly dismantled the football club, shagged the womens captain and cheated on his wife but he can’t get behind the team and a manager that has been here for less than 30 games.

Top fan 👍🏼

He got ridiculed for not naming the players.
He has since named the 3 players and with that, those 3 players will get rightly dogs abuse for showing so much disrespect to the club.
Some fan bases would be booing these 3 everytime they touched the ball on Saturday but I can’t see that happening with out fans.

Unless @Leysboy now wants to say he made a mistake and they haven’t down tools then surely we take it as the truth because why else would someone openly name the players?
Seeing as Ruben is a fans favourite from what I see & people rave about mcguane as if he’s the second coming of iniesta. Both have been overrated for months & in Marcus’s case, this trajectory has happened before. I’d happily sell him in the summer for a fee. I personally don’t think he’s what we need and I think his head is elsewhere.

After what happened with Robinson, I’m prepared to give Des time, unfortunately there are people in our fanbase who have no patience or sense of loyalty. I’ve said it before, if we can’t get behind and support one of our own, what hope have we got for any manager that we bring in.

Des should get until the summer. If he sees the same game as most & he wants to play good football from the back, I’d be trying to move on these players in the summer,

Eastwood
Brown
Thorniley
Long
Mcguane ( doesn’t want to be here in my view)
Mceachran ( just doesn’t have it anymore & can’t play 90 mins)
Browne
Henry
Rodrigues ( if he’s downed tools like some suggest)

If you can move those on, and some will also be released. Then he can start building the side he wants. He’s got too much money tied up in players who just don’t contribute enough & don’t play or aren’t receptive to what he wants to do so get rid and start afresh with a new set of coaching staff he wants.

This summer will see a big change. They’ve invested big money in Des to oversee that change of playing personnel. I don’t see them getting rid of him on a whim. It wouldn’t look good on Tim’s spreadsheet.

Neither were Kemp, Wright, Rix, Talbot, Paterson, Clotet and Waddock.

If you sat through them, but you're refusing to sit through Des......that probably says more about you than it does about the club.
Waddock was not given enough time and he signed Hylton.

Firstly, season ticket holders come and go and those that go do so for a whole variety of reasons. But sometimes on here it feels like a big show of someone packing their bags and standing at the front door waiting for their other half to plead with them to stay. It's all a little dramatic!

Secondly, now is not the time to have a pre-emptive go at any player. It's about supporting each and everyone to give their all. I think that Long and Bennett are more solid defensively than Stevens and Leigh and would pick them for that reason. But I will support any combinations if they play for the shirt and give everything for 90+ minutes.

I don't think that Cumming has been anywhere near as bad as some make out, and think he's significantly better than Eastwood. But this time last season Eastwood was outstanding and contributed as much to us staying up as anyone.

Rodrigues, McGuane, Brown - all struggling for forum. Sparky has also lost a little of his spark. But if they are fired up and start today then they will also have my support from the very beginning.

And Des will 100% have my support until the final whistle.

Today is all about winning. We have 13 days off after today to sort things out ahead of 7 games in 4 weeks that could still resurrect our season. We have to be committed on and off the pitch and we all play a part in that.

Let's throw something into the mix. Yes, we know Buckingham was handed a three and a half year contract. A deal in stark contrast to the one given to Manning. Is it beyond the realms of fantasy then to suppose that, as a proviso to that 3 1/2 years, the club inserted a clause with performance related targets and have every option to terminate contract should results not meet KPI's?
I suggest this as I always thought the leap from a rolling/short term contract for Manning, to a full on long term deal, for Buckingham, was stretching credibility a tad.

If that is the case then, as @RyanioBirdio has wisely suggested, and he's not usually lead by reading his morning tea leaves, Buckingham could well be gone before season end.

I would, none the less, be very disappointed as I had high hopes for Buckingham. However, this is a results based business and pretty aggressive at that. Perhaps Uncle Timmy will have learnt from the debacle that was KR to be more astute in his dealings with the playing staff?

So should he have gave up early into his OUFC supporting journey? After 20 years he's seen enough and earned the right to make his judgement, like the majority of us to know Buckingham isn't the answer.
Well regardless of whether Buckingham is the answer or not, it seems odd to me as well that after some really bad times in the Conference, this is the time to stop supporting the club.
And I also have the right to believe that.

Frankly seems to be nonsense that RR has downed tools as he's still working as hard as ever off the ball. Think it's very easy to confuse frustration of not being able to get on the ball and influence games with a lack of purpose.

McGuane has blown hot and cold but just seems lost out there right now, seems devoid of confidence and you can't have a player at the base of the midfield wary of receiving the ball.

Was more concerned about things like Brown rarely giving Leigh a pass that wasn't a hundred miles an hour as some sort of weird point to prove he should be LB, but doesn't seem to happen as frequently in games now Leigh's out of form.

Isn't it funny how you can look at anything on the pitch and put a spin on it based on ITK murmurs?

May be some of the players want the narrative to be that they've downed tools, as the alternative of them just being bobbins recently isn't much fun either. But again this is all said without proof, as is 99% of the stuff on here said about what goes on behind closed doors.

It's a shame aswe have some quite decent players obviously Des is not getting the best out of them.
