Not sure if you or I misheard this (probably me) but I thought Des had said “we probably should have gone earlier on that” i.e. we should’ve announced CH’s role earlier than we did.

The recruitment and development of talent is vital. When Des joined the club, he made it very clear that he wanted to assess the current staffing set-up before making any changes or bringing in new coaches. I'm delighted to confirm that on the back of this ongoing review, Chris Hackett with be assuming the role of Des' Assistant Manager to work alongside Craig Short and Lewis Price. We have also agreed a deal to appoint a First Team Analyst and are in the process of finalising a start date for them.

Des referred to CH being a link between the Academy and the 1st team. It certainly doesn't seem certain CH is the Asst Manager based on his comments. It may also explain no announcement specifically about CH on the website.

Not sure if you or I misheard this (probably me) but I thought Des had said “we probably should have gone earlier on that” i.e. we should’ve announced CH’s role earlier than we did.

Certainly wasn’t how I heard it, no. And his follow up comment talking about them discussing how it will look kind of supports that, I think.

I deleted my original post as it came across like I was waving my dick around, I knew there was someone in the building because I literally saw them in the building being shown around, this was early into the Des era. I won't risk any of my ex-colleagues jobs by pushing for a reason why it didn't happen, it's not up to me to do that, but it's damn right up to the powers that be to communicate better.

There was a second person in line should target 1 not happen, someone who Des has worked with before (I believe he was named on a thread on here) which didn't happen because they decided to not relocate their young family.

This was all before I left the club in December, so I'm not sure if there would have been more names since, but it seems to me the higher ups have gone;

"Des, we don't want to push for the guy you really want, the other guy won't move here because what we offer isn't worth it, have Chris until the end of the season so we save face and can provide some clarity to our impatient fans"

Do you think Hackett is temporary and just to the end of the season?
