Ex Player Alex Rodriguez Gorrin

But hes not composed enough to play as a centre forward either.
He is nowhere near composed and clinical enough to play through the middle regularly.
I don't get how people are suggesting that he us a centre forward?

Makes sense if we can make room in the squad (given registration limits) and give first team football to a player who would likely be on the periphery for the rest of the season. Especially given some of the other players (like say Hall) may find it difficult to locate a willing taker.

Obvious it hasn't worked out for him as a RB which was the position he was signed for. May have a future at the club and did show promising signs on the wing, but think this makes sense for everyone.

If we could get Cadden in, if he's close to the level before he went to the States would be a fantastic signing.

I’d like to see him played as a striker, I’ve hardly seen him there. He was pretty terrible tonight, bad crosses, fouls, and losing the ball.

Being a central striker isn’t just about being composed and clinical, although those are good qualities to have obviously. You can be as composed and clinical as you like but if you’re slow and weak you’ll rarely get the chance to use them. Agyei is strong, powerful and pacy and can unleash a shot. The one game I’ve seen him play centre forward for us this season he looked decent and harried the centre backs. I’m not saying he’s a brilliant centre forward but I think it’s his best position.

If Agyei was played in the middle instead of Winnall and Shodipo on the left we would have been over the hill and far away last night. Having said that, Hall and Sykes in particular used the game last night to at least keep themselves in the manager's thoughts...how many more times does Dan get a chance from the start to see what he can do (whether out wide, in the middle, or whatever)?

Leaving aside the fact that I sponsor Sean Clare's kit home and away, I am still baffled by this decision. KR placed this square peg in a round hole at right back but whenever he was given (brief) cameos in other positions, he excelled to my mind. Not only could he get down the wing faster than anyone else in the team and put in a decent cross, he could also cut into the centre, switch play or get the ball up to the 10 position or Taylor. I simply cannot see how Robbie Hall, affection though he deserves in abundance, can compete with that when he no longer seems able to beat the man and his first touch is often found wanting (I appreciate he scored the free kick against Cambridge but that in itself is not sufficient evidence that he is more valuable to the squad than Clare who both play in a similar position). I really hope that this is not the beginning of the end of Clare's Yellows' career as I believe given the right management, he could be an excellent footballer. It is a shame that some people imply that JFH has the ability to do that where KR apparently does not - I don't enough to know whether that is true, I am merely observing the tenor of some of the remarks on the forum.

I like Dan too, and have wanted him to do well here. But he HASN’T improved, and it just seems he doesn’t have a “footballing brain”; he rarely seems to make the right runs, pick the right pass, or find the right positions. He would be the ideal number 9 for a Tier 5 side and would thrive at that level. A loan (with a view to a permanent move) but be best for everyone. But in a way I’d be sorry to see him go.

Maybe we will see a replacement come in + hopefully they'll be an upgrade, but surely would have been better keeping Clare until said replacement was finalised?

You have to juggle squad size, wage cap & timelines and we obviously need to reduce the first two before we can bring in anyone.

You can't just send someone out on loan, another club must want to take them and they will also need to fit into their own particular puzzle of squad sizes and wage bill.

It's possible that Clare was the only player that we judged was a "definite" in terms of completing a loan deal and if Burton had said that they would need the deal completed by a set date otherwise they would move on to someone else, then a done deal now for Clare may have been judged better than a possible exit for (say) Sykes and Hall later in the window.

Clare's wages could have been a factor-
With the (£2.5m squad/season) restrictive salary cap in mind- perhapsKR needed to make a bit of space in the salary bill?

FWIW my comment about JFH wasn't intended to be a dig at KR at all - was just making the point that if you have a player out on loan, especially a young developing player, you would want them to be learning under a good manager, and for all intents and purposes JFH is an excellent manager at this level.

Now we know the real reason Clare didn't play away to Burton. Probably this was a possible move and Clare was not in right frame of mind to play. Seems sensible to try and get him game time to see what develops. Hearts fans couldn't decide on his value to the team and I guess KR has realised the R/B option didn't work and currently he doesn't fit.

The fact that JFH has said that he sees Clare playing as a box to box midfielder then the width of the pitch is irrelevant.
So maybe the question to KR should be why does JFH see Clare as a midfielder, but KR still sees Clare as RB (going by his comment on the loan).
