Yes, there's football talk to be had and time to get the flavour of a place. Bits I've left out too like when I looked out of the window from the first floor of the Chophouse after my mate mentioned there was a view that Wigan on a Saturday lunch time to be had. I'm not in a position to judge but in a door way a homeless person (possibly a drug addict) was lying motionless and being attended to by a number of paramedics with an ambulance waiting close by. He was taken away but I'm not sure he made it. So also some not so good bits during the day unfortunately. That was quite meta! A match report with no football. It sounds like you had a good day nevertheless. It wouldn't have worked for me, I hate drinking in the day though I enjoy a few pints in the evening.
I remember you've mentioned this before Sarge. One day.If youve not yet visited The Albion ale house in Standish ( northwest Wigan) @Paul B , I think it would be one that appeals to you & your compadres .....local ales and it has all the right ingridients

Paul, your adventures are starting to remind me of "Last of the Summer Wine"!

Sadly soYay! My sons match ticket for last week's Wigan match arrived today, 7 days after the game should have been played.
Now he's got to find out about a refund as he can't get from Newcastle to Wigan midweek and get back in time for lectures
