Sadly Baldock is constantly picking up injuries & despite his quality when fit the man is class but if we are going into the league campaign with Taylor Baldock & Sinclair I don’t see that as much Improvement/Upgrade on Taylor Winnall & Ayegi that we had the previous 2 seasons before hand

We need to bring in 1 quality striker this summer to compete with Taylor & have Baldock as 3rd choice when available

@Scotchegg I do admire your endless optimism but as things stand it’s been a very poor transfer window so far and I’m genuinely getting concerned. Let’s hope the next week brings a more positive feel to the club and the forum but (rarely for me) I’m not against the concerns being raised by many folk on here at present. They aren’t in the main just the usual naysayers, a lot of measured contributors are also starting to ask reasonable questions. In two weeks we need to have a strong bench at Derby and at present it’s flaky and young - COYY.

Concern is one thing, and something that many present appropriately and leads to discussion and debate.

But there are a small minority who suck the joy out of everything and make Harry Potters Dementors look like a Disney Store Employee of the Month!!!

I said that we needed 3 players in this week, but looks like they'll be here early next week. That should give us an indication on who we're looking at, and how close we are to putting out a first team and strong bench for Derby and beyond.

Big bid for a striker went in this week…..
I'm no expert on transfer dealing but surely there is a hint of desperation with our dealings now and agents and other clubs will be aware of that. Could that lead to us paying over the odds?

Moore's injured.
Almost as if I said we should look to sign another CB in addition to Findlay for a reason, yet some insisted on shooting me down...

But we don't know to what extent? KR said it's his hip, but won't know for a short time.

Hopefully he'll be ready for Wimbledon next week

If true can i ask why a bid has only gone in this week?

Probably because the loan option striker has fallen through. Karl said a world class player got injured which means that club wouldn't let another player come out on loan. Not sure who that could be but I got the jist it was a striker rather than a defender.

Seem to recall that Moore was out for quite a spell last season (with a hip injury). If this is a recurrence then even the Derby game for a return may be optimistic. Fingers crossed.

Karl just said 3 in by Tuesday hopefully, then 3 or 4 after that. So 7 all together still to sign. Better get moving!
Unfortunately 6 or 7 will not be enough. Most will agree we need:
RB x1, LB x1, Central Defender x1 or 2 (depending on Mous or Golding being deemed sufficient quality), Defensive Midfielder x1, Wingers x2 or 3, Strikers x2. At the high end that’s 10. You could even argue another central engine room midfielder, as other than Brannagan and Mcguane do we have any other specialists (Henry?, is Smyth ready?) Low end number of players needed 8, but if Baldocks injury is severe then I’d suggest 10 is a minimum

We have existing fragile players in Long, Gorrin, Mcguane, Browne, Baldock, Henry?

We need some power, pace and height and players to call our own, and not rely on too many young and possibly expensive loans. If we sign Jones then no other players with chequered injury records. Of the existing squad a number are also ageing, so I don’t understand why our thinking isn’t a little longer term by way of bringing in a lot more permanent players.

I’m sure I’ll be shouted down by some, but this is the way I see things currently. The cupboard is bare and needs plentiful restocking urgently!

I prefer...

He marched them up to the top of the hill and he marched them down again.
Haha reminds me of a song me & my used to sing.
Oh baldy Jimmy Smith.
He had 10,000 fans.
He marched them up to the town end & we took it once again.
And when we were in ,we were in.
And they were out ,they were out.
And when they tried to get back in in, we kicked the f*** ers out . All together now!!!! 😂😂

An assortment of striker names that have been on loan in league one...
George Hirst
Morgan Whittaker
Ellis Simms
Kyle Joseph
Macauley Bonne
Tyler Walker
Jordan Garrick
Max Watters
Charlie Kelman

Ten!!

We need CB x 1, probably 2
Winger x 3
Striker x 1, maybe 2

That’s 5 on the very low end, but more realistically 7.

Ten is a whole new outfield team!!!
