Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

While it must be hard for him where do you get the information that he is not supported. Back room team are there and doing all they can to support but he needs to use that support. Investiment is the same previous manager had but what he does and how he does it is up to him.

Are they though?

I heard that no-one at the club took him seriously. Just trying to remember who suggested it....

Fair point. I don't actually have any evidence as such and going on instinct which I know isn't helpful. I suppose it look a long time for the assistant to arrive and the analyst. It sounds like Des didn't get his first choice for assistant and he seems to be front up everything when perhaps others (the board) could shoulder more of the load.

He's got an assistant??

When did that happen?🤔

He certainly hasn't been. Manning had Hogg as a trusted right hand man, we spent months chasing people, offering them pay cuts and getting turned down before just sort-of-but-not-really giving it to Hackett. The way it was announced was a giveaway that it wasn't our first choice and we were about 10 games into Des' reign by then.

Another member of the backroom staff also left around the time Des came in but he still appears on the website and I've seen no notification that he's gone. I suspect when the new guy is in next week we'll see a "he replaces x with immediate effect, we thank x for his services" message from the club as if he's been here the whole time and we've not been another man down while Des is trying to fill those roles and manage the team. I've not seen much of a plan on the pitch under him but he's been stitched up by a board who are either absent or not up to it.

Which member of the backroom staff has left?

What I was objecting to was the idea that just having the new stadium means we're guaranteed a home gate of 14,000 every week.
Nobody that I am aware of has ever suggested that there wouid be a guaranteed 14k home crowd every game.
Colin B did a really good analysis of the uptick in crowds for clubs that get the stadium right.
The facilities at the new ground will be infinitely better, people hate the Kassam.

The only reason I go to the Kassam these days is for the engagement activations.

Genuinely, Des looks absolutely shattered. The difference in 10 weeks is immense.

For all I criticise his tactics and game plans, the poor guy has clearly been absolutely hung out to dry.

What evidence do you expect him to provide? Have you got any evidence that they haven't?
I’m not the person coming on making allegations about how the club is behaving.

Unless he is one of the people who was offered a contract involving a wage cut, or somebody who works in HR at Oxford United I imagine he’s talking out of his backside.

(And if he does have any direct knowledge of the contract from the club he should be fired for discussing it on the forum.)

Repeating that kind of gossip as fact without evidence is bad for the fans bad for the players and bad for the club. That’s why I think it’s reasonable to call him out.

But if the allegations are true, what kind of evidence do you want him to provide? There seem to be a hell of a lot of people hearing some pretty concerning stuff about the inner-workings at the club at the moment. People talk, in particularly disgruntled employees. If your first thought is about firing people rather than concern about what's being said then I think it says a lot about your priorities.

You are talking about pretty concerning thing at the club: I'dd say an employee posting details of someone's wage offer would be pretty concerning- wouldn't you?

I think it says a whole lot about your priorities that you appear to believe anything posted on this forum and get angry with someone who asks what evidence there is for a very specific allegation.

I've heard tatabanya likes smearing his chest in Pedigree Chum and having it licked off by dachshunds. Could you provide some evidence that it's not true?

I don't necessarily believe it, but I don't know what evidence you want him to post? This is a fans forum not a court of law.

He hasn't posted details of someone's wage, he's alleged that we've offered pay-cuts. It's anecdotal, as is everything on here.
