I'm working from home tomorrow, so I'll get on with tracking down the last Bloxham candidates and emailing / writing to them.

Had an email from Harry Knight, Bicester West candidate, 100% for the new stadium
Have updated the opening posts, thank you. Fraser Webster is the incumbent there, but is not standing again. He is an Independent, so at face value Harry Knight would be the favourite to win the seat as his 'successor'. Do you know what the situation is there locally as to why Fraser Webster was elected in the first place (ahead of party political candidates for example)? And do we know whether Harry Knight is standing on a similar platform, and therefore likely to win again?

Somebody does need to let those candidates know. And hammer the point they are nothing to do with Banbury.
I live in Banbury Cross. They won't get my vote - is there anything else I can do?

Thanks Bert, I've linked you on the opening post to show that you're a resident of that Ward. Looks like we haven't tracked down emails for candidates in that Ward yet, but when we do we will add them, and equally if you find any emails, please update here too.

Here is the link to the post showing the candidates etc: https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/...cil-cdc-elections-4-may-2023.9041/post-645507

It's worth you contacting all of them ahead of the 4 May, as a local resident your voice is more powerful.

As and when you make contact with those other candidates on the list, you could add some lines explaining that Linda Ward does not speak for you.

The aim ultimately is to have a YellowsForum suggested candidate to vote for in each ward. In your ward the incumbent is Hannah Banfield, an independent. She is not standing again. There are two other Independents standing this time around, so it may be that one of those is favourite to win. Or it may be one of the party political candidates. We can only work this out through emailing/lobbying, and also local context from people like yourself!

Any ideas what key issues Hannah Banfield stood on last time around and why she won?

Thanks. I've sent messages to those I found easily on Facebook and will list any replies here.

I'll search for email addresses for the others tomorrow.

As a Banbury resident you're very important. Whilst there are no rules about where a candidate is from or lives, it's clear Kidlington residents and vocal stadium opponents Linda Ward and Victoria Campbell are standing in those Banbury wards to get onto Cherwell District Council as thats the council who'll make the planning decision on the stadium to simply to stop something in their own back yards 20 miles away. Its doubtful they have the best interests of those wards in mind. Same for any Green Party candidate.

If your a member of local Banbury Facebook groups or Next Door groups please post my previous paragraph to warn people they may just be being used. Write to the local paper to warn residents they're bring used. Below are some screenshots that confirm their residency and anti-stadium affiliations. Feel free to use.

These are two candidates, plus Middleton and Mawson, we don't need to email.Screenshot_20230410_103132_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230410_190053_Facebook.jpgScreenshot_20230410_103205_Gallery.jpg

One reply so far from Simon Garrett - IND Banbury Cross and Neithrop. Very positive I'd say

Vote him in!

He's in direct competition with Linda Ward, please let him know she's a Kidlington resident trying to get onto Cherwell only to stop something in her back yard. Feel free to use the images I've uploaded here.

No responses to my messages, very frustrating and incompetent of those candidates.

Response from Helen Oldfield - Labour

Dear David Morris,

Thank you for your email - and well done, by the way, for finding my email address.

I have to confess that although I am aware of the brouhaha about the proposed new stadium for Oxford United I know very little of the detail and the rival arguments. I shall now make it my business to research the whole matter. I shall also consult some of my colleagues who are keen supporters of Oxford United and are probably much better informed about this issue than me.

With best wishes,

Helen Oldfield

Can you sit on more than one Council then? She's currently listed as KPC which makes no sense to me.

Are we saying that she's moving to Banbury or is this just a political move to have more sway on more councils for FoSB?

Good work. Is it worth sending her some info to show her why the build would be a good thing? And can you follow up with her in a week or so to see what her intentions would be if elected? It looks like she's unlikely to win that seat, but still worth getting her on side for any potential conversations she may be having on the doorstep!

Very positive, nice one Bert! Would be good to understand what he (and Tim Barrett, the other Independent standing) are campaigning for, and whether there is any overlap with the platform Hannah Banfield was elected on last time around.

This is my ward in Bicester, so thank for letting me know.

I doubt either her and/or Victoria Campbell are moving to Banbury. But if they are then they have no need to be involved in what is going on with Kidlington as people outside of 'Kidlington and North Oxford' aren't to be involved.....

Ian Middleton sits on 5 and is standing for re election in 4 elections, 3 parish and 1 District this time round

It seems so.....self proclaimed neutral ( re the Stadium project) green councillor Ian Middleton is a parish councillor for, I think, 3 Parish councils- including Kidlington and Gosford & Water eaton (?) , also he is a District councillor on Cherwell District council, as well as a County Councillor too
