Would be quite something. Bring in a manager from a team who've had a worse season than ourselves!

Big big risk, that was a brilliant team, we aren't.
Understand what you are saying. They sold the entire team from under him basically. I wouldn’t be against it. Get through this season & employ a head of recruitment which is a structure he’s worked in before

Ah yes, Lee Bowyer - he has the look of a man who seems permanently angry about.....well, everything and as I've said here before, speaks English as if it were his second, or possibly, third, language.
UGG UGG

Following on from him being backed slightly, I have a funny feeling that we could be looking at Liam Manning as our next manager, ticks all the right boxes as being an articulate & modern coach. Got shafted this season by MK basically selling their best assets and replacing them with nobody anywhere near the same level & level of loanees brought in werent the same either. Just feel like he could be a good fit for our club & I’ve heard he’s going to be interviewed. Can imagine he would come across quite well in an interview setting.

Liked by UTO…

I don’t understand why you think either would agree to being the other’s assistant?

Yes, a bizarre suggestion. As you say, why would they ? It's not like becoming the assistant of a top PL club where it could possibly happen, indeed did happen in Appleton's case. Zero chance of either becoming second in line at Oxford.

People get too hung up on a manager that 'seems' to have had success at a club, thinking 'as you do' that he has built this amazing team, then sold the players to bigger clubs and the board did not reinvest.

Look a bit deeper and you will realise that Russell Martin turned that team into one of the best teams in League 1 (an outstanding job), which Manning inherited. The following 12 months with Manning, saw a rapid decline, completely undoing RM's work and then was unable to find those quality players to replace the ones sold.

I do not want someone with this track record thank you.

I think their final shortlist is going to be Appleton, Manning, McCann and Warburton.

Who would you like of those? Who do we think Ferguson, Williams, Tiger & Co will pick?

(Now waits for it to be someone entirely different)

Warburton please, but expecting McCann

In that situation I’d pick out of Appleton & Manning, with it being very tight between them both. I’d probably just go with the fresh approach of manning over appleton returning as I really rate manning as a young manager & think he could progress with us given the right support & budget.

Okay, thanks, scenario #1.

You have a right-back available for selection, do you?

A) Play him at right-back
B) Play him at left-back
C) Ask on Facebook what a right-back is
D) Go and watch the women's team
E) Say anyone can play there
F) Ask what's a right back

I think one of those is toast
