National News The Brexit Thread πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

2,000 pages or so, within that both sides will have reached compromise.
Most adults realise that.
Without reading it completely we will not know the detail and will mostly rely on folk with unconscious bias to tell us their views.... :)

So Hong Kong , the EU made no concessions their side did they? Let’s have a look at the text before determining who the winners and losers are.

One thing for sure has been one hell of a tough negotiation. Well done Lord Frost and his team.

The main sentiment must surely be great relief.

Interesting to see Barnier got sidelined in the last few days. I’d suggest that the border shenanigans did France no favours with the rest of the EU in the last knockings.
There are no winners. There are only losses.

Reports are saying we have made major concessions.

Also, interesting article from the BBC. Perception is now people are better informed and seen some of the impacts, more would like to remain in the EU.

And polling on these issues is always so accurate!!

Am I alone in wondering that claims by BBC that a deal had been struck with the EU, and an official announcement was imminent ( repeated constantly since 7am) are something of a, (err), red herring?  ;)

*Losers. :)

I know you struggle with the word and the concept as it is all about "taking part" these days..... another fault of the education system. :)

We did it lads! We beat 'em! Up yours Jerry!

Those % are from the Guido Fawkes website (pro Brexit, Pro Johnson) and a journalist analysed their reasoning and suggested they were very generous in their interpretation considering they were comparing the latest UK offer, rather than the original offer, against the EUs original offer amongst other things.

We know the Seed Potato industry isn't included currently and won't be able to export because they are already kicking off about it. This mostly affects northern England and Scottish farmers and at least 4k seed spuds now won't be able to be exported. Johnson isn't doing his best to keep the Red wall. :)

Good that most Agriculture appears to be included.

Not sure I agree with that, its seems the typical poor negotiating stance. Do a deal late, so no real scrutiny can take place. Nobody is going to stop a deal now. Irrespective of whether its a good deal or not, this is simply a negotiating tactic. It will potentially end up as a bag of shite simply because if you do not scrutize the detail properly the deal may not reflect what you actually negotiated. Whats why so many deals end up in litigation. Even more so in this case because the agreement in 2000 pages long and the final part have been put together on the back of a fag packet.
Personal view was negotiating teams said months ago, the only way we get this deal over the line is do it late, there will be too many people on both sides who will be able to wreck it. Yes they negotiated last night but every deal I negotiated through the night was testing the other sides resolve and how much they needed the deal more than you do.
The deal happened it was just getting the final few pieces of silver.
Mind you remember one deal when we turned up at the signing meeting and no papers were on the table, and the chairman from the other side comes in and says on due reflection we would rather not sell our business to you!!! Sometimes you try for that one last piece of silver and it breaks the camels back!!
