They were never going to review it, it would have suggested that both the on-field officials and VAR hadn't seen the incident, or that they didn't know the rules (the only two options for review being it was unseen, or an incorrect interpretation of the rules).
Therefore one can only assume that none of Michael Oliver (and his assistants) plus David Coote and Lee Betts at VAR HQ saw the challenge as reckless or dangerous. Given it was a knee-high, out of control, scissor challenge, that is a bit worrying.
Football is going in the wrong direction with the implementation of VAR we have.
 
Everton fans are as disappointed about the decision not to retrospectively review this as anybody!!!
