Current Player #30 Owen Dale

If it were a loan, i absolutely get that we wouldn't be able to play him. However, this is a guy that we have PAID a fee for. He is our player, not Blackpool's.

Why we would agree to not play him against a promotion rival is beyond me. Nobody will convince me that we HAD to agree to this to get the deal done, either. Dale was not really getting much of a look in from the start under Critchley. They made numerous signings themselves and will have needed to get Dale's pretty significant first team wage of the books, in order to strengthen their squad.

Get and play the lad on Saturday for goodness sake.
Some need to remember, they are a direct playoff rival. Weakening ourselves in an already weak area of the pitch atm is ridiculous. Honestly the club is pathetic atm.

100%. Play him and be damned.

Play him.

It would be f*****g hilarious if nothing else.

‘Gentleman’s agreement’. If you didn’t want us to play him against you, Blackpool, you could and should have asked for that to be put in writing and reduced the fee.

As soon as Jerome Sale started talking, I felt I knew exactly what he was going to say.

Just stick a disguise on him and say his name is Dale Owen. They'll never know.
The dismay from Robyn and George Elek said everything about this whole situation.

"Gentleman's agreement" - f**k me. Blackpool's owners must be pissing themselves about it still.

"Yeah they've actually agreed to not play him. I know! I only said it as a joke!"

Honestly…. How many more times will I read something about the club this season that makes me facepalm 🤦‍♂️

If it's true, I'm already getting the popcorn ready for the explanation.

My guess is that it'll be something along the lines of "it's actually quite common in the industry. As a customer you really wouldn't understand and we've already communicated too much about this anyway, OK BYE."

Sounds like something out of the Gilbert/Scotch repertoire… And don’t worry, it’s only one game. What’s that when there’s 15 more after that? Nish.

Only teasing. Be amazed if anybody can justify this one. Just embarrassing.

You just know it'll be another one that Des gets to field the questions for.

Meanwhile Tim will be counting up the Match Day Activations from the weekend, whilst Grant tries to work out whether he should lay up ahead of the bunker on the 5th, or go straight for the green.

I don't understand it and never will. If a club is happy to get rid of a player, then why would they not want them playing against them.

But it's not the first time we've done it (found Simon Clist as far back as 2009 as one example, Alex MacDonald another) and numerous other clubs do it as well.

What would happen if, unlikely as it may seem, we both reached the playoffs? Could we play him against them then?

Why should we respect a "gentleman's agreement" with Blackpool of all teams?

This is the same team who placed lowball offers for CamBran, then threw their toys out of the pram and recalled Thorniley.
The same team who waited until just before the season started to activate Cam's release clause.
The same team who signed signed Kyle Joseph for free, instead of paying the £1.5m we were expected to pay.

f**k 'em.

Maybe they knocked £xk off?

Imagine we play him Saturday and gets a 95th minute winner, maybe one our chairman/CEO would like to avoid…. Not that they ever attend games!! Imagine the scenes in the hob nobbing room after!

It says so much about the lack of goodwill towards the management at the club that people are so very unhappy about this.

Agreements such as this one happen all the time, particularly when the next meeting between the clubs is fairly close.

That said, they’ve brought it upon themselves.

We would have to ask Blackpool very, very nicely if they would mind. Hopefully they are feeling charitable.
