Exciting times. Gotta admit I was very keen on Crofts, but pretty much any of the front-runners seem like a good option really. And it does make sense if he knew Manning well, and often used to exchange ideas with him. Bring on his first match!

Agree with every word of this. Two big questions remain now:

1. Who will he bring in for his staff?
2. Given yesterday's OUFC Twitter chat, any news on what is his favourite chocolate bar? I imagine it's quite a classy choice like Tony's Chocolate (vegan dark chocolate hazelnut crunch) or maybe a bit of Hotel Chocolat.
1. I imagine he'll keep most of the current team for continuity, but maybe we're looking to bring one more in.
2. Hopefully not Instant Regret! Although, having lived in Mumbai for a while, he could probably handle the extreme heat.

We should be thankful that the owners have got such prodigiously deep pockets. Quick work management, well done.

Looks like an exciting appointment but bet it’s cost a lot.

Cue soulful soft focuses of Des amidst cut away shots of Port Meadow, dreaming spires, BMW , St Giles Fair and Peters and Lee crooning in the background. Chris Williams fixing up the location shot as we speak.

Seems you can buy these moments.

For the youngsters on these boards under the age of 55, who have no idea what @PottersRightBoot is talking about, this is what you missed back in the day when were a Division 2 Club!

Loving his successful rebrand as a suave and sophisticated man of culture.

I can’t wait to see what he wears in the dugout at Cheltenham. It’ll be chilly, but he’ll want to impress. Tweed?
Bespoke tailoring I imagine with a nod to sustainable materials and heritage. Tweed a very good shout. Maybe paired with incongruous trainers and a wet shirt (even when it isn't raining). No time for the post match interviews as he has tickets for an exhibition at the Ashmolean on the history of Sanskrit.

As long as he's wearing an Oxford Shirt, then that's fine with me. Maybe with a fitted waistcoat.

I think when it seemed to be down to Des, Williams, Eustace, Crofts and McCarthy that it would be very easy to make a positive argument for any of them, likewise you could also have reservations about any of them as will always be the case. I imagine Des was the priciest choice and likely substantially more than someone like Eustace who I think a lot of fans would have been happy with so he must have been incredibly impressive. Agree, it's incredibly exciting.

According to urbdictionary, we can expect some Manning-esque behaviours from the new man:
