Current Player Thread Yunus Konak

If I had a pound for every time ScotchEgg threatened to leave the forum I'd be the owner of OUFC
I've noticed that there are a few posters on here who love to performatively declare to leave the forum only to never actually do so, it makes for quite tiresome reading, leave or stay, nobody truly cares, we really don't need a public service announcement every time.

It's the ones that feel that they offer the most value to the forum and OUFC that do it.

Blimey, reckon we could lose about a page of this thread and we're only seven in!

Thought he did okay against Brum given the midfield was completely outnumbered. Didn't think he was that bad on his debut, but appreciate why he came off after the booking.

Convinced he's miles away from a Konate or Tyler Smith panic loanee.

I'd like to see him start with both Konak and McDonnell sat deep to let either, Cam, BDK or Peart-Harris roam as the more attacking central midfielder.

I was really impressed with him tonight. Seems to have gone under the radar a bit - not mentioned much on the match thread and only a 7/10 rating - but I thought he was everywhere, a real high-energy performance, constant blocks and tackles, shuttle running, pressing, closing down. Not flashy stuff like pinging crossfield passes or shooting from 30 yards, but every team needs a water carrier like that and he played a big part in that performance.

All it needed was some time maybe, he was written off after the first few appearances, last two games he's done really well.

Also nice to have someone taking some of the pressure off of Brannagan.

He was excellent and has stepped up to the BDK plate in these past couple of games. Brannagan has been better for having someone who covers ground next to him and shares the load in the build up. McDonnell does one but not the other where Vaulks offers neither, which makes it very tough for whoever plays with them.

Seems to have settled down a huge amount from his first couple of games where I think he was in such a hurry to burst on the scene.

Would’ve been very interesting to see what he and BDK could’ve produced as a pairing.

Brannagan has been very good in both the last two games, his delivery in particular has been excellent. I think having both Konak and Donley in there has helped lift both the physical and mental load off of him. They both get around the pitch and want the ball, and as a result we're looking much more of a team where things are knitting together a bit better.

He’s a quality player and a good partner for Brannagan in midfield. McDonnell’s done little wrong and might struggle for starts now. Options in midfield, what a difference it makes.

I agree, my last sentence wasn’t really taking that in to account, it was just a bit of pondering. He’d be very hard to drop at the moment and I think his set pieces of late have been superb.

Agree- both Donley and Konak were excellent last night

As has been mentioned in a few posts above, not only is he a talented player who works hard and does the foundational stuff well, he also brings out the best in Brannagan.

The reason why Cam and Vaulks never work is because Vaulks does everything to make Cam’s job harder, mostly due to Vaulks lack of mobility and composure, which adds more pressure on him. Now we have Konak (and McDonnell/Donley) doing exactly what they should be doing in their respective positions, Cam can relax a bit more and play his role like his best days for us in league one.

I also feel like his set pieces are much better because he’s more relaxed at having less workload compared to playing with Vaulks who loves to scream at every decision and stress the team out for no beneficial reason.

I'm glad we're judging a young player after a few couple of halves of football again!
I know that people spent a page or so objecting to this comment and others that Scotchegg has made over the years. Obviously he has his own opinions on what he sees and likes to share them (don't we all) but I really don't see the need to jump all over him for them. If you think they're aimed at you, and you don't like them...he could have been ignored. And have you all forgotten when Charlie Methven used to post on here (or on one of the forum's earlier versions), most recently as Charlie's Ghost? Totally sure of his own views (which is OK with me) but utterly condescending to everyone who disagreed with him. I'm glad that he's no longer posting. But I miss Scotchegg's contributions and, even more, Colin B's.

I didn't mean to take this away from Konak, because he really has been a revelation. But it really is a shame when people, for whatever reason, don't feel welcome here. (I've even come to terms with Kip.)

everyone is entitled to write there opinion , not everyone will agree and will challenge the post and content. Some are straight to the point others make snide remarks but in any event throwing the toys out of the pram and sulk is silly, we are all on this site to support our team , come on the town !!

The town??

You had your meds today?
See how easy it is to get a response, my meds indeed so come on you lost souls of this platform start writing again!
