Ex-Player Thread Yunus Konak

f**k me! We had a young player who gave everything for our club to try to keep us up, and then picked up an injury in his last game when he could have easily disappeared back to Brentford.

And you respond like that?!

Personally, I hope that the injury is only minor and he gets the time to fully recover before pre-season starts, regardless of whether he is our player or not.

I wouldn’t want any injury to end a players career but haven’t got time for a random injury to a player at another club - not enough hours in the day to worry about everything.

Hey all, Brentford fan here, I come in peace.
Yunus Emre Konak is highly rated at brentford, with talks of a contract extention and keeping for potential Europe squad next season.
Does anyone mind giving a small summary of his time here, the type of player he is and also the likelihood of him adapting to prem football?

Hope you lot come back up for the championship btw, away end always served me well!

I really liked him.
Strong in the tackle , energetic and a very good DMF player.
The fact that Brannagan looked twice the player when Konak played next to him says it all.
His distribution and decision making when he did get forwards could improve, but he is young.
Would love to see him back here, but he will play in a better team next year.

After a bit of a bedding in period, he was excellent - really useful player.

He is a bit of a water carrier. Great engine, really strong in the press, good in the tackle and recycled possession well. But he's not the most creative, and his play in and around the penalty area was......errrr......let's just say erratic!

But if you've got someone in the side who is creative and can run the show (maybe Damsgaard? Although I confess I don't watch much Premiership football these days), and you just need someone next to him who can break up play and get him the ball......you could definitely do worse than Konak.

I would love him back here for another season. With what’s we saw and considering his age you will have one hell of a player on your hands.

Pros: Good engine, works hard, snaps into tackles, can dribble.

Cons: Poor passing over any kind of distance, seems to lack confidence in his ability to run with the ball, very poor attacking decision making.

Easily good enough for the Championship now; hard to say if he’s PL material as yet.

That’s a decent summary. He certainly needs to up the attacking side of his game if he’s going to have a PL career. He looked very unsure anywhere remotely near the opposition box. Can’t question his tenacity and ability to win the ball though.
