There was a very good documentary series about the Ripper case shown on BBC4 at the end of August. Some of the police work at the time is beyond comprehension.

suppose he would’ve been caught earlier if it was now.

I’m not usually in favour of the death penalty although I think serial killers and war criminals could be an exception.
Maybe an American court finding leaving him languishing on death row for 30 years would have been a good solution

He was questioned 9 times...... but it was all paper records and nothing was joined up.

They almost tracked Sutcliffe by the use of a £5 note used to pay his wages but resources were deployed elsewhere and his car was stopped on numerous occasions.
