Goes to show how popular football is now. I remember so many games back then played in front of small crowds. Look at the Shrewsbury V Crystal Palace attendance of 2555, which is now today's Championship. Southampton at home to Luton, crowd 12117, in what is now the Premier league. Also, for Southampton, Lawrence scored 2 goals. Is that George Lawrence ?

Looking back on the 1980s, clubs with much smaller crowds could outperform and hold their own for a few years in the top flight.
I'd like to see us as an established mid-table Championship club, the famous "top 30" ambition. But looking at all of the other clubs also looking to be in that position, we are currently looking more like relegaton threatened.
When you then look at the teams who will be in League 1 next season, if we are relegated it's probably just as well that Birmingham City and Wrexham come up this year.
