Yellow Division Displays

Norwich always travel well so when the teams come out in front of 11k + it's going to be strange shouting 'yellows' when practically every other person in the 3 sides will be doing the same on. Either team on the day will garner the support more and let's hope its us, so any display will need some deviation perhaps in colour?

Just sayin'

Norwich will be in their away kit

I know Norwich will be in their away kit but any established players in their starting 11 for Norwich will come out to the OUFC support shouting 'yellows' and probably think for a second or two that it is like a home game for them!

It isn't very often that another predominantly yellow kitted side rocks up at k*ssam with 1500 or so fans and hear the shout of 'yellows' and wonder what the f*ck and the canary faithful will gladly have some of that! Burton Albion was our other yellow but we didn't have to worry too much with their 'away support' but this and Watford will I assume be a test of different mettle from the stands.

Just sayin' that as a support we may need to mess with the farmers heads a little when they visit by being one or two steps ahead of them in supporter noise and originality.

Hope the "we haven't come this far to only come this far" can make an appearance. Think it's pertinent on our big return to the Championship.
That would also placate @christenedinjericho 's previous point about adding some colour to the display, as well as nicely tying over from our last game in League One to our first game in the Championship.

I’ve heard from some of those involved that the H&S mafia have stopped them being able to wave flags during the game.

What is it with certain parts of this club???!!!

Something about "old" material being used because that would need a fire safety cert.

Not defending the club if it was just waving during the game, but one would think they are governed by pretty stringent rules on fire risks etc and wouldn`t have a choice if it was non-certified material.

A set back but don't let that get you down, lads. I love what you do and the atmosphere and the feel of matchdays is all the better because of you. Keep it up.

My usual companions can't make the Stoke game so will move my ST to the back of the East Stand to add a bit of mid-90's London Road to proceedings!!

Fair enough, sure I read something about old material........... if its down to waving then its a FFS from me!
The club have stated its EFL regs. This may be true, but we have evidence of other clubs waving flags during the match and after a goal has been scored. We're building a case for this at the moment, and we hope that progress can be made with this.

I dont necessarily think we need to be waving them all match, as they will obstruct the view of many around them. However, when a goal has been scored, and the start of the 2nd half, are perfect moments to get the atmosphere going again!

We had to ensure all materials were fire-safe/certified. We wouldn't be allowed to use them if they weren't. We've done all that was required of us, to ensure that we are compliant.

For clarity, I wasn’t talking about the planned display, but the waving of flags in general.

The club’s representatives have clamped down on it this season.

This makes me so mad. Going down exactly the same route as they did with Oxford ultras.

@OxVox just tagging you on this in case you weren’t aware. I think this is a really important issue and after everything that happened to wipe out the ultras we absolutely collectively need to give the yellow division our support.

Can someone identify which Oxford United official is responsible for this absolute nonsense?

The improved support and atmosphere at the back end of last season played a massive part in the promotion. In fact, I strongly believe we would not have achieved promotion without it. The club should be doing everything it can to make it easier for fan groups to improve the atmosphere, not putting hurdles in their way. I appreciate that there's rules to adhere to, but rather than 'you can't do that', why can't it be 'we'll work with you to find a solution'? Really frustrating.

What is it that the club aren't allowing? Seemed to be flags and more against Norwich that looked fantastic. Has something changed since then?

I appreciate that Yellows Army/Division are still growing, so this isn't a reflection on them if they were short of funds or volunteers. Just wondered if they've had to change plans following changing requirements of the club.

The club can't help themselves on this front! It's been like it for years under successive regimes. The only time it has been really warranted is when a couple of us were hauled in front of KT at the time due to repeated use of pyro home and away. I think it was the season we returned to the FL because it was not banned in non-league.

For a while the club were supportive with us doing pulley displays, using the cupboard underneath the stand, setting up early etc. but they appear to be stifling any kind of fan initiatives. It must be a nightmare for those involved now, who are doing what they are for the love of the club. If the stuff has a fire certificate then they should not be stopped from using it. Particularly if it's done at the back of the stand.

Maybe I'm biased but I genuinely think that a vociferous crowd that wills the team on and is visible from the pitch is going to be vital in us staying up. I appreciate that ultimately it comes down to player performances but we know just how bad the Ka&&am can be if the fans aren't up for it.

I summarised the YD side of things in this post: https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/31-08-24-championship-oufc-v-preston-north-end.11199/post-906304

We have been told that we cannot wave flags during the match, at the start of the 2nd half, and after a goal has been scored. People have been threatened with being kicked out if they do so. Another example of heavy-handed stewarding, but thats a conversation for another time. We are in conversations with the club regarding this, and given the positive effect the YD has had on the atmosphere in recent months, we are sure we can reach a suitable compromise with the club.
