WWC 19: Japan V Scotland 14/6/19

Japan had most of the possesion so far ... Scotland had a couple of forays forward with one half chance on target but a soft shot

If Scotland are aiming to win theyll need to be a bit sharper and quicker

ouch! thats gotta hurt.... Japanese player rightly yellow carded for that challenge

will the 'flowers' of Scotland blossom or wilt v v Japan ?

Scotland 1-0 down.... shot from the edge of the box .... sitting too deep allowing japan to overun midfield has cost Scotland there .... question is can they regroup and come from behind to win this?

Scotland very nearly conceded another ...far too slow ... need to change tactics and up their pace if they want anything out of this ... maybe pretend Japan are England and up their game accordingly may be a start?

Japan pen awarded ... after Scottish defender brushed Japanese player! controversial pen imo

2-0 Japan

Poor keeping for Japan's first. Justifiable penalty for their second (Japan striker pulled backwards). Scots pretty dire and going probably home.

agree re first goal ...albeit Scots were too slow defending (still are too)
pen was, IMO a very soft one to concede, Japanese player knew what she was doing and went down very, very easily

Strangely i was hoping Scottish women would make the second stage, if for nothing else, to embarrass the men's national team

but yes, it does look like Scotland women will stick to National tradition and bow out at the group stages

unless a different Scotland women team come out for the 2nd half (as they did v England)?

HT Japan lead 2-0

second half of the second half and Scotland actually up their game ... unlucky with a few decisions ... inc a pen for a (clear) handball but as Scotland are not French, so no VAR intervention or award ... 5 mins left Scotlands pressure pulls one goal back ... too little too late Japan win 2-1 FT
