WWC 19: England V USA 2/7/19

Will the Lionesses roar to victory over the current WWC holders the, (arrogant n maybe over confident?) Yankesses ? .... our pride of Lionessess are more than capable of going all the way .... hoping the officials are up to standard and the intervention of VAR is not required

its looking like its a sell out crowd in Leon tonight .... and its expected that over 7.5 million will watch tonights semi final live on TV

The controversial appointment of Phil Neville seems to have really work for this team and the women's game. Will the critics eat a small slither of humble pie now?

Good luck to them tonight.

Prior to Neville’s appointment we also reached two semi-finals in major tournaments - and that was before millions was pumped into the game and players were full-time, so don't think crow has to be eaten unless we win the tournament.

Bit confused by what you mean by "and the women's game" though? In what sense? ?

I'm nervous - have been all day - but think we can win it. We must tighten up at the back though because the Americans are clinical and won't be nearly as forgiving as the teams we've played so far.

Come on England.

keep it tight, cut out sloppy passes and dont get sucked into the Yankesses way of play and the Lionesses should win

my only real worry is the quality of match officials.... and hoping that VAR doesnt intervene at all

Players were full time and have been for a while, certainly from before those semi final appearances.

More money has gone into the management/coaching structure recently but it wasn't insubstantial for those 2 competitions we made the semis previously.

I should have said fully-professional - I was referring to the whole of the top tier of women's football in England, which only went fully professional last season; only since then have all players been full-time.

Fair dos. That said those in the England set up were pretty much full time for those competitions.

It isn't looking good for England at the moment as the US look comfortable.

Interesting half.

When the US are good, they’re very good. Clinical, attack in packs and they snuff out attacks like no one’s business.

But I thought England had their moments. Their best option is getting the ball wide. Stretch the US rather than trying to play through them as England’s attempt at a slide rule pass has failed every time. Also, make use of the set piece. England had routines in previous games but have fluffed both of theirs in the first 45.

Ellen White’s goal was superbly taken. Let’s hope for another!
