World Cup World Cup 2026

My Lad and me have watched England at every home match to get the opportunity to get reasonable priced tickets - his 18th and my 50th Birthday present - we planned to go for 4 weeks, watch all the group games and then last 32, 16 and quaters
Had a healthy budget and thought wed be fine, unfortunately with the prices (tickets from £300 each and hotels $400 a night) we are now going for 4 weeks but doing 2 group matches and then a pool holiday for the last two weeks

I have no issue with FIFA fleecing non fans just wanting to attend a match but for those who follow any country home and away there should be a reward - for those that dont know England have 31k in the travel club and would normally sell 10-15k tickets easily
We have been given 5k tickets in an 80k stadium and apart from 400 affordable tickets the rest are extortionate
I find out next week what category ill get but am assume cat 2 - around £350- £400 each to watch England Vs Ghana and same for Panama match
Im hoping i sneak into the cat 3 brackets which is about half that price
we were planning on spending 2/3 days in each venue and making a real trip of it, due to costs we are now flying in from orlando the day of each match and back afterwards

Hate what FIFA have done and the corporate greed

Yeah that's s**t if you're a regular committed supporter and have been to lots of games

Until fans bite the bullet and boycott these tournaments this will carry on. The organisers treat tickets like a drug and sell them to the highest bidder whilst the rest of the world watches on.

Be brave and give it a miss. I won’t be watching because of the orange t**t and his disciples. If you cannot go without your fix do the next best thing and boycott the products associated with the tournament.

You would have more fun and there will be more atmosphere watching the games in a Greek/spanish holiday resort for about a tenth of the price than actually going out there, hate to think how much a pint will be.
Still I will be watching on tv, no point pretending otherwise, FIFA can’t really lose.

And it will be something like Budweiser, Heineken or Coors.

Feel your pain.

Though to be fair......there's not exactly much to do in East Rutherford for 2/3 days! It's perfectly pleasant but pretty boring. You'd want to be staying in New York City and yeah, there's no way to do that cheaply.........meanwhile it's really easy to get to and from MetLife from Newark Airport (as I'm sure you've found out)

And it will be something like Budweiser, Heineken or Coors.

Anheuser-Busch InBev are the World Cup beer sponsors, so yeah it's be Bud/Stella/Corona/Beck's and other things they sell and nothing else.

If anyone is going to East Rutherford though, and is in need of something a little tastier, there are some bars in the neighbourhood that actually serve some reasonable craft beers and will then bus you to the stadium and back before and after.........

Have to say beer snobbery would be the least of my worries when I saw the prices, can’t wait to see what they are in the grounds though, guessing $20 dollars a pint.
I'm pretty sure I paid $20 a ticket in 1994!!!

Be $20 administration charge on the ticket now, plus another $15 handling fee, all for a digital ticket.

What games did you watch?
Only group stage games. Italy v Norway (Giant Std), Argentina v Nigeria, (Foxborogh) Brazil v Sweden (Pontiac)

We fly into LaGuardia at about 0800 so a few hours to look around and then uber or train to stadium
Going to NYC after the match as flights aren’t until 0600 and see a few things plus a beer or 2

Sadly those kind of boycotts won’t work. Many switched off for Qatar and it didn’t make a blind bit of difference. FIFA regarded it as a success, could parade the unquestioning lapdog Messi around with the trophy and the Golden Boot and all the corruption, dead Bangladeshi construction workers and empty promises could all be forgotten about. Did any of those stadia get shipped off to Africa at all?

What needs to happen is a bloc of FAs or an entire federation or two to boycott FIFA. Don’t send their teams to either the World Cup or Club World Cup and leave FIFA with a devalued product.

UEFA would be the most likely but even then I could see some choosing to go. CONMEBOL would always go and so would CAF. But none have the guts to do it. FIFA still have the unicorn - the greatest football show on earth and no country is going to give the possibility of going up unless others are going to do so as well.

FIFA is a cartel not even trying to pretend it’s not corrupt anymore. They have ruined football and ruined the greatest knockout cup competition. The whole thing needs disbanding and starting again but no one will do anything about it unless they work together to do so

"If the Six Nations experiment is a success , there is a possibility ITV could sell in-game commericals for its coverage of this summer’s World Cup, when there all matches will feature a three-minute water break in the middle of each half to help players cope with the extreme heat."

Games gone …

As I've mentioned plenty of times on here......less than half the venues for this summer's World Cup are actually going to be hot. The rest are either further north or indoors with some form of climate control.

If they start having drinks breaks in the middle of each half in mid-June in Vancouver (where it's more likely than anything to be a bit chilly at that time of year) then the game really has gone, and there's probably no getting it back.

FIFA are doing a great job of turning me off, personally.

The extortionate pricing and 48 team fiasco is complete corporate greed. How can it be an elite competition when 48 countries are playing in it?

Couple that with my opinion that England will not get past the quarter final and I couldn’t be less interested.

As a committed man of principle, I will be boycotting this World Cup (unless someone wants to pay for my travel, ticket and accommodation)

I won't be boycotting as

- It makes no difference as I am only one person who watches it on TV
- I don't have much else to do
- I like watching it
- Even if I said I was boycotting I would watch it anyway so I might as well just be honest
- You can't beat FIFA, they have created the perfect grift

I won't be watching because international tournament football is more dull and boring than watching paint dry. It's even more boring than the Premiership has become.

But yes, it's so money driven nowadays, and ticket prices are aimed at the rich and wealthy, and the "prawn sandwich brigade" types.

There'll also be the usual mindless scum, masquerading as fans, causing all sorts of trouble and violence as well, giving our country a bad name.

Other than that, I'm sure it'll be great.
