He’s not eclipsing John Aldridge in my opinion, in fact nowhere near. They are different forwards, with different attributes, but Aldridge would have scored 20 last season and he’d get 25 in his sleep in this Championship. Lankshear is more physical but Aldridge would stroke the ball in and find the corner of the net. If Aldridge was through one on one quite simply it’s a goal, I don’t get that feeling with Lankshear - yet. In my lifetime Greaves, Rush and Aldridge are the three deadliest finishers I’ve seen so Lankshear has a way to go to reach Aldridge levels.

We did more for him than Spurs did. In the meantime they sold him to Boro when they could have kept him. Instead of which Spurs chuck loads of money on players that so far have been below average….and lost 0-2 to Newcastle today 😄😄😄😄

Will happily take PoTS but won’t take photos with those same fans 3 months later. What an absolute tw@t.

Sure, but when Aldridge played for us, he was at - or at least very close to - his peak.

I think the assumption here is that Lankshear has a lot of scope for improvement still. He improved a lot in the year with us, and now he has a shot to improve a lot again playing for a side that's going to create a lot more chances for him.

Not saying that he will end up being better than Aldridge.....he probably won't......but there's at least a chance he keeps improving and gets to that level.
 
He will definitely have a good career, provided he doesn’t get a bad injury, but the step up from the championship to the premier league is huge so that will be the big question mark, how he handles that when gets his chance.
 
Probably find out by January at the rate he's started the season ,75 million and off to Man utd
