Ex-Player Thread Will Lankshear

The next Harry Kane, who is he. Lankshear will be better than him, give him a season or two, especially if Boro do get to the Premiership.
That lad has a great future ahead of him if he has the right coach and stays injury free.

I like Lankshear but saying he will have a better career than Harry Kane is going some.

Yea but what has Harry Kane ever done in his career . He's plays football in the German version of the SPL he's scored most of his goals for England against poor teams in qualifying stages of major tournaments

Very sharp in front of goal. Already at Boro he is showing how good he is between the widths of the posts and insIde the 18 yard box. He will have a terrific career at the top level of English football, i have no dioubt.

It's a shame that we didn't have the players capable of getting him into the positions that he has found himself already for Boro, just a little more often.

Excellent player.

Love the man but the hype cycle is ridiculous. Not his fault of course and he has huge potential but I wish media would lay off him a bit.

I think people got a bit too carried with his 'love' for Oxford.

He knew exactly what to say and will continue to say the same things at every club where he has a positive experience to help build a relationship with the fans.

For me its not a problem, he just buys into a club and uses it to get the most out of himself. It seems to work.

Rather that than the current situation we have with a couple of current players.

Well I for one will not be happy until he comes out with a statement saying "I'd much rather be at Oxford United for my entire career than find myself at Middlesbrough, or any other club. But I'm trying to make the best of the situation I find myself in."

I am hoping he saves that speech for when he signs for Real Madrid for a world record fee.

Well yeah it's fine, but some still believe Oxford is his one and only true love, when it's just going to be the team that he currently plays under and scores goals with.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that he loved his time at Oxford, turning down January moves suggests he did and I think we were good for him too. I don’t think it’s an act as some are suggesting, but he’s now a record signing at a big club, of course all his focus will be there now.

If you look at the numbers then Kane and Lankshear aren't far apart. Kane had scored 14 in 56 games by the time he was 21. Lankshear has scored 12 in 59.

Lankshear only needs to score 530 goals in top level football over the next 13 years to overtake him then, piece of p**s.

If Lankshear does as well as Dominic Calvert Lewin he will have done well for himself, I think comparing him to a world class player who is one of Englands greatest ever forwards is setting the bar a bit high.

Exactly.

He came here as a stepping stone to building his career, and he gave us his all.

I am not sure what more some fans expect. We thank him for his time here, for the total respect he gave to us as a club and a fan base and we wish him well during the next part of his development.

He's earned the right for this move to Boro and he is already building a great relationship with fans. He is a young lad who knows exactly how to conduct himself and yet we still hear grumblings because he says positive things about his short time at Boro as though it is in some way critical of Oxford.

Really looking forward to seeing how his career unfolds and I have nothing but respect and gratitude for his time here.

To be better than harry kane, you would have to morph in to peak CR7 or Messi. A big ask I would say.
 
MPH substituted at half time. Lankshear looks good so far. He will get a couple of clear cut chances before too long and no doubt convert one.
