Even though the m6 will be, as usual,crap, league 1leaders should bring at least 1000 .....back in the day when latics were non league &rugby league ruled the roost in pie country, there were regularly over 450southerners decending on station road wigan every saturday, and then the first friday of the month as well between sept 1973 and dec 1981, for the soul allniters at wigan casino (aka the emp)

Theres still allnighters in wigan....jordan wilson runs the annual empire niter in september, theres also the four a year follow your heart allnighters in an annexe of robin park (where wigan athletic play coincidentally)....and until recently there were the stateside niters bi monthly at stubshaw south wigan
Coincidentally 2 i was at brighton aug bank hol weekend covering the gathering for my day job !

Just had a browse on their forum and the phrase "Don't get ahead of yourself" springs to mind.
What an arrogant bunch of pricks they are. This is Wigan f*****g Athletic, the same Wigan Athletic that have averaged less than 2,000 fans at home in the not too distant past. I can only assume some of those posting are quite young and have no idea how totally s**t Wigan have been for most of their history until Dave Whelan came along.
Also I've been called a clown for not knowing that Colin Methven used to be a Wigan player. Having Googled him, he played for Wigan between 1979 and 1986 when I think they were in Division 4. Sorry chaps but my knowledge of obscure fourth division players from thirty odd years ago doesn't extend to this bloke.
I've generally been pretty ambivalent toward Wigan over the years, they mean absolutely nothing to me, just another small northern club like Rochdale and Bury, but now I hope we smash them.

Oxford fans thought the guy's & girl's that stayed the distance were a credit we have been well beaten in the past move on and get behind your team, you have a good set up and all the U's I spoke to were friendly genuine supporters good luck for the rest of the season.

Nice post mate fair play to you. Can’t see anyone getting close to stopping you winning the league to be honest. We are going through a bad time on and off the pitch atm but can’t take anything away from you regarding Saturdays result. By the way you got Colin wrong, he’s a good lad well respected on here, just got the hump like the rest of us. All the best pal.

Nothing to do with "one guy abusing me" pal, I've had far worse. But all to do with the arrogant nature of your fans on a few message boards I've read. You beat us fair and square, well done, but you're Wigan, not Barcelona. You are a better team than us this season, but the facts are, as I pointed out in my earlier post, until Whelan your history was s**t and your support even more s**t. That is undeniable. Small northern club is what you are.
Also, no matter how good your fans may think they are, they still have to live in Wigan!
