League One Wigan Athletic woes

smart move with the run of form they are on they can probably cope with points deduction and still get out of it and wipe the vast majority of their circa £20million debt out - "never let a crisis go to waste"
The punishment for going into administration during a close season was relegation 2 leagues well it used to be but things may have changed or may change due to the lockdown. But it’s unfair going into administration in the close season when a points deduction during a season could effectively relegate a side so waiting till the close season knowing you’re safe would be unfair. But these times are unprecedented.

Some very odd goings on with the ownership changing hands. On the face of it looks like one of the directors of the previous company: INTERNATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT CORPORATION simply started a new company, registered in the Cayman Islands as NEXT LEADER FUND and then arranged the sale to himself and a mate (or two) Love to see how that all pans out and who ends up getting richer! - Not Wigan, that's for sure.

But its not close season in the Championship?

think they’re very likely to go down, 4 points off safety having played a game more with 6 games to go, not got the hardest run in but think they’ll struggle

maybe and they have obviously made the decision knowing that is a real chance but having won their last 3 in a row - another 9 points might be enough

EFL have said if Wigan are already relegation by virtue, then the 12-point deduction will be applied next season in League One. Otherwise, it will be applied this season.
Good - so clubs can't use administration as a means to wipe off debt without consequences - quite right.

There will be more, we just need to all do our best to put what we can into the mighty U's!

All while the plastic premiershit swans around flaunting it's wealth, let's hope a couple of them topple.

so....if Swind*n did go into Admin, they'd have to take a 12 point deduction this season, dropping them to 7th in the table, a position form which Northampton got promoted. Can you imagine the EFL trying to deal with that one??

Trouble with that is, they have already been promoted. Season for them is long over. They could start next season with a 12 point deduction though......
