Why are we so poor at corners.

When did we last get something from a corner?

To me it seems we pump a ball in, aiming for Rob Dickie, time after time after time. There just doesn’t seem to be any planned change.

I saw some data on corners recently. It might have been on this site.
It revealed the number of goals that come from corners was surprising low accross all leagues and has been on a slight downward trend over the last 30 years.
I think the conclusion was the standards of defending has risen over the recent decades, but would want to double check that.

A couple of rare goals that have stuck in the memory (i think!) ... Kevin Brock scoring directly from the corner kick at the manor..... Beano's last min away winner away to Crawley, (in non league) from a near post flick on Beano buried it coming in towards the far post

I would have thought that almost every corner resulting in a free-kick would have something to do with it too.

I agree completely with the comment regarding throw ins,we desperately need to find someone who can throw it a bit further than the normal 1 yard to the nearest player who is normally marked

Back in the joey beacham days a corner would always be taken to the near post and headed on for CF and CH to crash home. We must have scored many goals during that period.

I’m not big on fundamental rule changes but what about short penalty corners like in field hockey?
Wonder how much easier it would be to score..

Also several defending players have to wait in the other teams half so can’t pass the half way line...
That would really shake things up!!
