Given the incredible, relentless work that Billy Ox has undertaken these last four years in not only keeping this bunch of reprobates informed, enlightened and encouraged on here, but also the tireless job he's done countering some frankly astonishing lies and misinformation spouted by certain groups online, I thought it might be nice to mark his achievement by raising some funds to get him something nice from all of us to show our appreciation?

I'd be happy to make the arrangements if there were enough traction on here.

What do people think?

@Billyox told me he would prefer a donation to the Joey Beauchamp foundation and the Silver Star Unit at the JR.

Ah, what a bloody star. Why don't I set up a GoFundMe page that I can share on here so we can track exactly how much we raise, and then we can divvy it up to those causes accordingly?

I think it has to be an absolute no from me, but I genuinely appreciate the thought behind it.
I don’t want praise, money, a collection or anything else. That was never why I got involved, and I certainly don’t want anyone putting their hand in their pocket for me.
The truth is, we all played our part in getting to this stage.
People emailed councillors, submitted comments on the planning application, attended meetings, challenged misinformation, shared documents, asked questions and kept others informed. Some people did it publicly, others quietly in the background, but it all mattered.
This was never the work of one individual and I would never want it portrayed that way.
We got here together.
That’s what this group has become over the last four years — a community. A group of people from different backgrounds, with different views on plenty of things, but united in wanting to see Oxford United have a future.
So genuinely, thank you for the incredibly kind gesture, but please don’t organise anything for me.
If we eventually get this stadium built, seeing Oxford United walk out at their new home will be more than enough.
We are a community. That’s what we are, and that’s what got us this far.

f*****g hell. The real question now is whether human civilisation has peaked with @Billyox

I did indeed suggest this

That's wonderful mate. You're a gent.

If that's what you'd prefer (to not be made aware of how much anyone has donated) then I guess we should just make our own individual contributions.

Thanks for all your hard work mate, it's truly appreciated. And from a father with a dyslexic son, I understand the extra hoops you have to jump through at every step.

I'd really like to buy you a beer at some point. How can I find you before a game?

If not weird I’d love to shake you by the hand @Billyox and buy you a beer

I’d be happy to donate.
@Billyox - whilst you may not like to take any credit here, you should not underestimate the contribution to all of our sanity that you have made.
Even if we contribute to a charity of your choice, it’d mean a great deal for you to allow us to treat you to something, even if it’s a nice meal for you and a significant other.
We are a family, it’s what makes our club so great, and occasionally family treat each other!

I couldn't of done what I did without the rest of you all doing your bits of sending in comments to the planning portal or emailing councillors

You’re a class act @Billyox

Today is a day of celebration, another chance to show the positive difference OUFC fans can make in Oxfordshire. I’ve celebrated by donating to the wonderful Joey Beauchamp foundation.

Great suggestion Billy 💛

To show there's no hard feelings it might be nice to arrange a nice meal out for Billy and the ice maiden Suzanne together, they could chew the fat over the events of the last 4 years😐
