General What video games have you been playing recently ?

Currently slogging my way through GTA 4. Can't say I'm enjoying it too much. I don't know if it's the game itself or if GTA loses it's appeal as you get older. Last GTA game I played in full was 5 in 2013. Will obviously be pre-ordering and playing 6 at launch so will be interesting to see how much I enjoy that.

Plenty of other games on my list though! Just not enough time!

GTA 4 was fantastic when it first launched, but it’s extremely dark and moody and hasn’t aged well sadly.

The story is much better than GTA 5 though.

I much preferred GTA 4 to 5.
Didn't get too far with the story in either.
Played 4 so much, either with mates or just messing about with the vehicles and weapons and the locations.

Im mostly playing Subnautica 2 and Forza 6 this last couple of weeks. Mixtape has also been a nice surprise. But keep going back to Raft. Mindlessly drifting on the current soothes my mind!

Good State of Play last night. Games that took my interest are:

Tomb raider
The Lost Wild
Phantom blade 0
Omnimusha way of the sword
Ace combat 8
Stuntman Hollywood
ILL
Until Dawn 2
God of War Laufey

Although it's just occurred to me that my gaming schedule is probably already full for the rest of the year now. I plan to finish GTA 4 and it's DLC by end of July. September - December will be full by FIFA, COD, GTA, and Wolverine. That only really leaves August. I might aim to squeeze in a Switch 2 game then.

Starfox remake in August maybe?

I’ve always wished they’d remake Lylat wars. Such an incredible gaming experience on the N64 and I miss the characters loads.
Yeah I'm looking forward to it and from the previews it looks like they've handled the remake well. Loved Lylat Wars back in the day - immediately brings back memories of having to recharge some AAAs for the Rumble Pack!

That is an option! Although I've been wanting to play Donkey Kong Bananza since it came out last July, so I'm leaning more towards that.

Thanks for listing NONE of mine *bursts into tears*

Loved Bonanza. Glad I followed a friend's advice to just enjoy the story rather than trying to clear each level during the first playthrough. Much more enjoyable doing so after the closing credits.

That there is the one tip to enjoy the game a lot more.
I spent ages trying to clear everything at first and got very bored, very quickly. Left it a while, went back and just progressed the story and enjoyed it so much more.

Currently playing Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and Reanimal.

Am intrigued by the new Yoshi game - might get it for the summer holidays to play along with the kids.

I just bought Galaxy 2 (having not played it since it came out) and it's brilliant. I always thought it was similar in quality to the first Galaxy game (which I loved and replayed a few years ago as part of the 3D Allstars collection) but it's much, much better. More challenging and love that they've just thrown so many ideas at it. The lack of a big Hub world is to its benefit too I think.

Its interesting... lots of different mechanics to work out (some are fun, one or two are a little frustrating) and use for a short time before on to the next.. although there is some cross-pollination between levels. Overall its a fun little game to pick up and play. and then revisit to try and earn more stars and get all the flowers.

Not tried Galaxy 2 - did start Galaxy 1 a short while back.. not played too much of it as I went back to Mario Wonder and finished that off (well, passed all the levels - could still go back for more collectibles etc).

I'm still going back to Vampire Survivors, the 'Adventures' option is keeping me entertained in the brief time I'm getting to play anything. I'm at this point in time where I only get the odd 30mins or so here and there to do anything, so twitch gaming is the way to go.
Try Everything is Crab..

I last played Resident Evil Requiem which has been out for a few months now. Game gets off to a good start but kinda falls apart around the midway point when you leave the hospital section. The pacing is a bit all over the place as the game progresses and Leon's segments in the second half fall flat from a nostalgia perspective and are pretty underwhelming.

I'll probably grab First Light in the sale next.

I enjoyed Wonder (and was raised on the NES 2D Mario games) but Galaxy 2 is really out of this world (ahem). It looks great too in HD - a perfect example of not needing the most powerful system to make a game to look brilliant.

I remember staying over at my mate's house the night Lylar Wars was released. Don't think we slept a wink that night, wearing our thumbs to the bone playing it. Great game.

When I started playing requiem during Grace’s first section, I said to myself that this game was going to be game of the year and possibly the best in the series.

As the game picked up, the flaws in the gameplay and story started to appear and it became rather gimmicky with awful pacing like you said. It felt like they were shifting too far away from the Resident Evil identity and were trying too hard to copy ‘the Last of Us’ and ‘Cronos New Dawn’ for the Leon segments.

The Wesker lookalike was also a lazy and terrible villain.

Yeah that was exactly how I felt. The game tries to pay tribute to Resident Evil 2 Remake and RE4 with Leon's sections but inadvertently ends up being more like Resident Evil 6 which is the worst in the series IMO! Leon's portion in Raccoon City as you say felt like The Last of Us Temu edition and the recycled boss fights also felt incredibly cheap. The bike chase was just embarrassingly cheesy and the puzzles took a notable nosedive in the latter stages with sheer linearity and simplicity. The survival horror elements went completely out of the window in the second half and the game felt really rushed in places. The game would've been much better without Leon and revisiting Raccoon City. The helicopter key part is where the game really falls apart and it's such a shame because the first half, despite some linear and scripted aspects, it's really quite excellent.

Probably the first title in the series outside of 6 that I wont replay anytime soon if at all.

Yeah you've completed the summary of my thoughts too.

It completely turned for the worse once you finished the mansion and went to the helicopter and I believe that's where Capcom started to rush the rest of the game, which is typical of them since the second half of their games are usually worse than the first half. And the way they put in so many easter eggs/nostalgia trips felt extremely vain and unecessary by the end when they should have dropped in a couple rather than 'here's another thing we want to remind you of, take a look'.

Puzzles are also the best part of their games yet they were almost non existent. I have a feeling their modern day staff don't carry the same originality and creative ideas that they did in the 90's and early 00's.

Just spent another £60

The list goes on, 200 games on Steam now, not sure about Epic and other platforms.

106 million views so far. Was explaining to my girlfriend last night that I believe this is genuinely the biggest gaming news ever.

All but confirms that the PS6 will be all digital. I also think this was fast tracked to help keep PS6 costs down. Sony are the biggest manufacture of Blu Ray discs and players, so I assume this will fast track the end of physical movies too.

Asha Sharma has the biggest open goal now for Xbox. Make Project Helix compatible with physical media and everyone's on your side. However, I expect them to follow suit.

I'm mainly 90% digital now anyway across all my platforms, but I believe physical should always be an option for preservation and for better deals! Call of Duty Infinite Warfare which released in 2016 is available on ebay for £10 but £60 on the PSN store! Sony now have a monopoly and we will be forced to pay their prices.
