Just watched Waterfront on Netflix. Very enjoyable and avoids many of the clichés that these (particularly US) series are prone to

'Kevin Bridges:In search of the beautiful game'. BBC iPlayer

A MUST watch. Reminds you of what you love about football and why you can't get excited about the World Cup.

Caught a bit of that the other night and must watch it all. Getting his cans in and joining those fans on the coach - he was like a teenager again going on his first proper away day - great stuff!

Went to see Disclosure Day at the cinema yesterday.

Due to a “no spoilers” rule I’ll just say it’s a 7/10 for me. And I always give a film seen at the cinema a bonus point for big screen and sound and audience.

Don’t usually watch series more than once but due to the unrest in the Middle East as it were I’m rewatching home land.

Saw the final two episodes of Clarkson s farm last night and it is such a well put-together programme - poignant, funny, informative, moving, educational, inspirational, laughter and tears in equal measure.

Really hoping that isn't the last series

I watched “Ladies First” on Netflix with Sacha Baren Cohen playing a bloke who gets a bang on the head and wakes up in a world where men and women’s roles have swapped. It was quite amusing if a bit over the top. At the very end I saw it was based on a 2018 French Movie “I am not an easy man” (“Je ne suis pas un homme facile”) and just watched that (also on netflix) and thought it was brilliant. They have really fucked up the plot in the remake.
The synopsis is “a shameless chauvinist gets a taste of his own medicine when he wakes up in a world dominated by women and locks horns with a powerful female author”.

Yeah, I saw that and was quite underwhelmed. Didn't realise there was a French original, so I'll give that a go. Can't be much worse

Went to see Ringu (1998 original remaster with subtitles) at the cinema in Dalston yesterday.

I’ve owned it on dvd for decades but being at the cinema means I watched it afresh. The sense of impending doom throughout and the final denouement when they think they’ve lifted the curse , followed by the journalist driving back to her father’s house with the video tape.

It’s not as scary as the first time where THAT scene was so freaky. If they had done an effect at the cinema I would have needed new pants.

I now notice the false start where the urban myth is that the phone rings after you watch the video , but then it is just the niece’s mother calling.

I had a brief chat with the Japanese Film Club organiser who said they’d also showed Audition , but that is a never again film for me. Watched once on dvd

Sad to read the American actress for Samara in the Ring remake passed away this week . I like that version as well as it also includes “you weren’t suppose to help her”.

I also have a translation of the original book.

Yes, underwhelmed is the word. Some amusing moments, but fell flat a few times. Keen to see whether the French original has more gusto.

watched House of the Dragon S3 Ep1 - having both read the books before the series' started being screened, both myself and youngest lad were a tad underwhelmed tbh with the first 2 series... S3 ep1 was fairly good in a brutal way, though what was contained within probably shouldve been halfway through S2

We’ve developed a habit of watching a beardmeetsfood episode most nights on YouTube before heading to bed.
I never thought watching someone doing eating competition stuff with a massive beard could be anything other than disgusting, but somehow he makes it OK.

Yeah that sounds terrible.

It's for kids really but we're quite enjoying A Good Girls' Guide to Murder on iPlayer.

I don't think he does it any more, but a few years ago he would backwash loads of water when doing the challenges so you'd have to sit and watch him drink a progressively browning glass of filth alongside the food.

Kind of put me off, but I will still check in when sister beard makes an appearance.

HoTD S3 ep4 screened earlier - ep 2 was also brutal , but in a more individual way, ep3 was a bit of a set up for whats to come episode, as was ep4 - Im expecting, hoping for, it to explode over the coming episodes- ( if the book is any indicator- which it isnt always)
