Hey you’ll be jealous, I’m going to see Gong at the Bullingdon! Albeit with no original members. I’m not really a huge fan and did see the classic lineup but it seemed silly to miss it just down the road.

I'll also be there. Saw them there as joint headliners with Ozric Tentacles a couple of years ago. Took me right back to my Stonehenge days man

Personally I think the current line up of Gong is bloody amazing - have seen them several times in this incarnation. They certainly aren't the same as 'classic' Gong - but TBH I would hate to go and see what was effectively a cover band (or a 'comfy armchair of a band' as described by Daevid as what he didn't want the band to become).

I do love a bit of Joy Division, anything in particular you are going to? I've been playing a lot of the Warsaw vinyl released in 2022 recently, some really good early versions of Joy Division classics on there - the version of No Love Lost is fantastic.

Last night I ticked off another one of my “90s / 00s” bands that I never saw at the time.

Sugar (Bob Mould / Husker Dü) at the Clapham Grand.

Very civilised with start time 20:15 and finish 21:45 exactly as billed.

Most of the hits off Copper Blue were in the first half hour. And one last one to finish.

Also a pleasant surprise one of the songs had very similar riffs to mbv.

As a long term Bob Mould and Husker Du fan , I also went to the Grand last night and Sugar were really good.

Husker Du sounded ferocious but I believe he's gay and mild mannered? I love Warehouse Songs and Stories - one of the few double albums that's good all the way through.

I believe he was ‘outed’ in the early 90s but I think it was something he just didn’t speak about, rather than hiding.

The two albums he made after Husker Du and before Sugar, Workbook and Black Sheets Of Rain are really underrated and the latter is pretty ferocious. Some of the post-Sugar dance/electronic material is a bit ‘meh’ to be honest.

Bit late ...... Wednesday evening we popped down to Gods own City and to the New Theatre to see Anna Lapwoods solo tour.

Think the last time I was at the New Theatre it was to see the likes of Adam & the Ants and Motorhead in 1980 ish!

We went posh with the Premium Bar and the like.

Absolutely brilliant arrangements from Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Interstellar and How to Train your Dragon, genius performer & musician with so much energy & excitement, an enraptured audience and it turns out we were sitting next to her Mum.

Nice breakfast at The Oxford Factory off Garsington Road on Thursday AM and then back home for other "stuff".
