Must admit I'd not heard of Dean Parrish, but loved that track so Googled him. Session musician with some pretty impressive acts!

I just pressed β€œRandom” on my music player and the first twelve tracks it played were

  • With or Without You – Jonathan Jeremiah
  • Ball Park Incident – Roy Wood’s Wizzard
  • Free Nelson Mandela – The Specials
  • 1984 – David Bowie
  • Sonic Boom Boy – Westworld
  • 007 (Shanty Town) – Desmond Dekker
  • Stomp! - The Brothers Johnson
  • Revolution – The Beatles
  • Copperhead Road – Steve Earle
  • Gay Bar – Electric Six
  • City of New Orleans – Arlo Guthrie

I had a blast of 'Free Nelson Mandela' as well this morning from my random playlist.

Bit of late 90s (golden era) trance when out running and also downloaded some classic Essential Mix sessions from Radio 1 (Portishead, Soulwax, Nightmares on Wax).
Also Silversun Pickups, which I can't believe I haven't heard before. And someone put me on to a band called Mannequin Pussy, who are also worth a listen.
Germany-wise, Grundhass is folk punk and I first saw him in support at a tiny venue in Berlin. He plays (or used to) about 200 to 300 gigs a year, like Sheeran used to do before he got big. He's now released his first album and first record management deal, so I hope the hard work is paying off. Nice fella as well.

A few weeks ago I had a King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard listening marathon where I listened to all of their albums in chronogical order. (over the course of a fortnight).
and have been doing some of the Tim's Twitter Listening Parties too, so Arlo Parks, Goat Girl recently.

Also an actor ....was in the Sopranos, among other things ....in his own right , as Dean Parrish (real name Philip Anastasi) he did I'm on my way , Tell her, Determination, Skate, Bricks, broken bottles and sticks ....all to lesser or greater degrees popular tunes on the northern soul scene ....I'm on my Way being traditionally the last record played at every (bar one) of the legendary Wigan Casino allnighters 1973-1981

He wasn’t the only singer to appear in the sopranos. Steven Van Zandt of the E street band

New(ish): Idles Ultra Mono, Young Knives Barbarians, I Dream Of Wires (modular synth stuff), Sleaford Mods Spare Ribs.

Older: Cramps, original Glastonbury Fayre soundtrack (just got it on CD only having had in on vinyl for decades), Canterbury/Soft Machine family, TMBG
FREEDOM with a big F !!!!! Young Knives are an Excellent band and barbarians is an excellent album...

In the last year I have been listening to a lot of the following Idles, Young Knives, Ride, Bill Withers, JJ Cale ( and with Clapton)
I cant get this song out of my head and its not something I'd usually like but Janelle Monae is incredible.

A European Robin in my garden and about 20 Long Tailed Tits who fly in and out quite regularly. The 6 big wood pigeons that would be good pan-fried with a raspberry vinaigrette and some salad leaves

A local s**t of a cat has injured a Starling in our garden. Doesn't seem able to fly but lively enough not to be caught as we tried as we were going to take it to a wildlife rescue. I will be targeting that cat with water (water gun or bucket) any chance I get.

I'd have a hard time not reaching for the air rifle if I saw a cat doing that.
